Title: S+ sound randomly stops working
Post by: tomwillhoit on April 17, 2012, 01:31:08 AM
Hi, I am new to the forum. I found LNG while I was looking for info on my S plus. Found out how to change the battery on NLG. then through code 61 and 61 1. everything works fine except I lose the sound every so often. I hit the on/off close the door and it comes back on for awhile and repeat. I have had the machine for about 8 years and first time it has failed. It is a Double Double Diamond and I love it (makes a good bank)  No bill validator :-(

Try removing and re-installing the MPU,
Try adjusting the volume up and down a few times and adjust it to where you want it.
Try moving harness going to the door a bit some as well.
I had a similar issue and it a problem in the middle plug (if my memory is correct) from the door at the top back of the MPU housing in the machine.

The best way I've found to adjust the sound on an S+ is to open the door
and press the little white test 6 times while watching the display
and the number [50] shows up in your "Winner Paid" window.

The blue potentiometer dial knob on top of the MPU cage controls the volume.
( It does not control the payout percentage!  :72- )

Reach inside with your right hand turning the blue dial back and forth
while pressing the "Spin" button with your left hand.

When you have the volume adjusted the way you like it, close the door
and the game will be ready to play.

You may have a little corrosion on that potentiameter that's causing it to drop out periodically. Sometimes working it back and forth a bit will fix it
