Just wondering if I wanted to convert from a printer to a hopper do I need to change all the game chips on the board or just one specific chip, and are the backplane and I/O boards the same. Or can the printer be upgraded to an 850 or seico with just a software change and wire harness or would I have to replace other hardware. 

The XU3 chip controls wether the game is for a printer or hopper machine. Change the one chip.  You can play games with hopper software in a printer machine but you can not play printer software in a hopper machine.

Thanks I am asuming that I have to have a game specific chip? I can't just clone the chip out of my jackpot party and put it in my reel um in can I ?

Easy ans, "NO"   Let me ask you how many credits does it take for one game on the machine your thinking about changing to coin handling ???  I have two 550 that are coin handling, the games that are in them each take 45 credits per game. Now think about it, a fellow would have to be pretty bored to want to have to deposit 45 coins for every spin. My machines don't even have printers, every cash out goes to hand pay.

I know I just have a machine set up for printer only and it only works with the old ithica 750 and I think I might just rather get different software insted of a new used priinter unles there is a way to set a printer only machine for handpay.   

I don't know what I'm talking about, but I would try installing a hopper XU3 chip, set the hopper limit to zero and disable the printer. Either it will work or it won't !!    :103- :103-  What game kit are we talking about ??
