Title: Cloud Storage ----- are you game? Post by: jdkmunch on May 06, 2012, 10:03:23 PM Hey everyone -
I was just wondering what your favorite cloud storage system was? I have at least 6 different computers that I'm bouncing around from and I'm really new to this could stuff. Out of the six 4 of my computers are Macs - however iCloud blows monkey ass (IMHO). I have recently coughed up $50 per year for 125Gb with MS SkyDrive. I was under the misconception that everything was stored on the skydive when I purchased the extra storage. As it turned out all SkyDrive does is synchronize all computers. The only disadvantage I find is thet the 150Gb must be stored locally on ALL computers AND skydive. So all my computers are now totally in-sync --***** however *****--- all of them must now have 150Gb of storage available - I originally thought that the "skydive" wars ONLY stored in the cloud - not true Title: Re: Cloud Storage ----- are you game? Post by: poppo on May 07, 2012, 01:03:16 AM Personally, I refuse to use cloud storage for several reasons.
1. I don't want my data hacked. 2. I don't want to find out one day that the cloud service has disappeared (with my data) 3. I don't like not knowing exactly where my data is. For all I know the cloud server is in China. 4. I don't want to be held hostage when storage prices suddenly go up and you have no choice but to pay up or have your data held hostage. 5. I live rural and BW is at a premium. 6. I can sync my data just as easily between devices at home and I have no need to do so anywhere else. Title: Re: Cloud Storage ----- are you game? I'm not nearly important enough to need several synced puters :52- |
