I need to re attach a reel stop pin that is activated by a solonoid.   The pin (looking like a half inch long, flat head nail) broke off the releas lever.    I beleave it was glued to the lever.    From the residue that is on the pin,   it looks to be ca glue.   Can anyone confirm this?    What should i use?

Maybe someone in the past glued it, but I'm sure it was machined or welded when first made. I'm sure I have the part if you would rather just replace it. Can you post a pic to be sure?

I have the part at home,   but when I look at the other two pins,   they are also glued to the the lever.   It appears to be a thick ca glue and original.  There is no weld, rivet, or any other fastener on the lever or head of the pin.   they are both smooth as glass.

I would have to look at one, but I don't think it's glue. Maybe slot weld or some sort of a riveted head? If your interested in a replacement part let me know. I might even have it in NOS. I picked up a box full of reels parts a year ago that was all NOS.

Wow, sounds like a hokee repair job.  :60-  I'll have to take a look at mine later tonight too.  Theres a lot of force applied when those reels come to a stop.  If is was glue I'm supprised it worked at all!

All fixed.   It's not the stop pin that hits the reel discs,   but the pin that is pushed by the magnetic push rod to release the reel stops.    At closer inspection,   it was glued on by someone and did not last.    The pin actually has a stem that goes through a hole in the trip lever and is nurled over.    I used a 3/8 stainless steel bolt and turned a brand new pin.    I bet even bally would not know it's not original.   Worked perfectly.
