Title: Bally American original Alpha Game Platform Question
Post by: badbaud on May 12, 2012, 04:16:31 AM
It's a Alpha Game Platform and uses 2 CF cards.

Tries to boot but gets to a error of "mount NVRAM failure turn key to reboot".

I am told I need a CF card to clear the game and set it back up.

i have the manual on how to set it up once cleared but can't find a CF clear card anywhere.

Is there a website I can go to and download this file. I have a bunch of 256 Mb CF cards, are they big enough to hold the code?

Not yet, a customer says he has a extra set of cards he can spare but his travel plans keep getting interrupted.

OH, btw..... I get errors trying to run the machine or trying to clear the machine, so it isnt fixable simply by doing a clear, because I CANT DO A CLEAR!
I am going to call Bally tomorrow and get their opinion on the problem, wil let you know how it comes out!

Post a WTB and I am sure there are many vendors here that would be happy to help you out.
Since the Clear Cards are matched to your O.S., you must provide which O.S. card you are using or the clear card will not work.

Good luck!

Can I have one too, seems you have a miracle clear card that you use that you don't need to ask what Bios/OS you are using

Oh wait, that is why you are having problems

So for your issue, change your batteries (backplane and all on cpu... since I don't know what cpu you are using)

Don't try calling me either after that last BS you pulled on ebay, I was mostly posting for General Reference for later searches

This post is from 2012 that I came across while doing a search, why do you have to come in and make your typical wise comments that were not needed nor requested. If you came in here to help, that's one thing, but for you to come in here just to cause trouble, thats another!!!!!!!

AM I WRONG??

Badbaud, PM me if you want a clear card!

Why is it some people ALWAYS seem to think a battery is the root cause of all evil?? Leave those poor batteries alone, unless they show signs of being bad, which the problem I was having did not indicate! If you're not EXTREMELY careful, you can actually rip the battery holder off the backplane!!! If you are going to remove those batteries, be VERY CAREFUL!!! I don't suggest removing the batteries from the backplane unless you are certain it's DEFINATELY the problem, but do so at your own risk if you must!

Anyway, as I was saying, after getting the same errors from 5 different 335 clear cards, and doing a virus scan and a file size comparison, only to find they all passed those tests, I deduced it couldn't be the clear cards!!! OR COULD IT??

I searched my laptop and all my back up hard drives for any more 335 clears...... NONE TO BE FOUND!! Hmm.......... What to do?
I then decided to check my desktop PC. I found a single 335 Clear file!!! Could this be the answer? Could all the 335 cards I have and the 335 file be bad? If so, how did they get corrupted? They show no virus, the file size is PERFECT.... Size: 61.2 MB (64,224,819 bytes)  Size on disc: 61.2 MB (64,225,280 bytes) What could have happened to 5 different 335 clear cards???

After trying all the 335 clear cards I had one more time, getting all those different errors I was getting from each one, it was time to try the file I found on my desktop PC!

TO BE CONTINUED.................   :103-

Well, after spending $233.46 on a HO LOTTA batteries as suggested by the resident wizard, I was still unable to do a clear....
I WAS STILL GETTING THE ERRORS, AND THE MACHINE STILL REFUSED TO RUN! I guess the battery theory that was suggested, ( SEE ABOVE ) wasn't quite right!  :279-

This is getting old, so enough chit chat! The fact of the matter is..... All my 335 Clear cards and the 335 file got corrupted, how I have NO IDEA! I tried the file I found on my desktop PC, and it worked immediately! I NOW have ALL MY FILES..... OS files, CLEAR files, BIOS files and GAME files backed up on a NEW backup hard drive SOLELY for my Slot Machine files! I also have them on DVD as well!

I also have all the files I have on CF Cards, hidden away where NO ONE has access to them but myself!

I have NO DOUBT the cause of all my 335 Cards and files getting corrupted will remain a mystery, but lifes mysteries are what keeps us going, don't they?
