Title: Mikohn Message and Jackpot Programing Language
Post by: CommTech on September 18, 2008, 12:10:10 AM
[C-F5]2[F1][F2][S-F3][F6]1[S-F1]0[F1][F4][S-F3][F6]4Play 3 coins

That should do it.

It will display the jackpot amount for a while, then the words Play 3 coins will scroll up and stay for a short while, and then the whole thing repeats.

Is the Jackpot group on the CHAMII setup set to SA? The PSP is set to Group 0, but the options in the chamII should be set to SA.

[C-F5]2[F1][F2][S-F3][F6]1[S-F1]0

What happens when do put this string?

After the Jackpot token you need to put a 0,1,2,3 to indicate what Jackpot it will display.....

I want to have the Cham II+ display Play 3 Credits.  The Current Jackpot is #,###,###.##

I tried doing part of it with jpot.do via the PSP software loose the Jackpot amount. I assume that it is grp 8 for Stand Alone.

Also tried to do so via batch files

What is the best way?

Thanks

On Con1.... I use the Jackpot Token (I think its a heart or spade) followed by 0,1,2,3 etc.
If I don't put a number after the Token I get an error when I hit send and just 0.00 displayed in the message.

So in PSP this would look something like.
[start paragraph] [travel motion][speed]4 Play 3 coins [odometer]4 [jackpot token]0

Where I have put things like [start paragraph] you would use the PSP inputs and get a simple symbol... and not actually bracketed words.
Speed...commands need to be followed by a number, Odometer has a speed (shows the numbers scrolling like an odometer) etc.

Since PSP is used to program Chamii+, Con1, Con2 I wouldn't think that the programming would'nt be that different....but I have been proven wrong before.....

I think the whole key to the mess is whether or not the Jackpot token command works on the chamII+ in SA mode.  If it does, we should be able to create a unified message that has both, some text and the current jackpot amount.

I did that rather easily using my friends con1 linked setup.  His message files all have the jackpot token on them and they work like a charm.

I have not tried it in my ChamII+ setup.  I'll have to try it tonight with different values for the Jackpot Token.

Message Programming
When you select option 4 on the Main Menu, the Message Programming page displays. This page lets
you create and edit messages for CHAMELEON displays associated with your progressive jackpot system.
This page is the same for both the CON1 and CON2. Message programming gives operators the ability
to increase player interest in the progressive jackpot system and use the displays for eye-catching
advertising.

Real-time jackpot win amounts and machine payout summary information can be included
in messages for even greater player interest.

The person who programs messages must pay strict attention to details because there are dozens of
message presentation formats available.

8.2 Message Programming Data Fields

8.2.1 JACK#.DO
The JACK#.DO file is usually programmed to advertise casino activities and service, such as special
promotions, although they can be used for any type of communication. There are four JACK#.DO
files, from JACK1.DO to JACK4.DO. The messages in JACK#.DO display on CHAMELEON displays
every few minutes on a rotating basis.
JACK#.DO messages can be simple or extensive, depending on the purpose of the message. However,
they are limited to the amount of available RAM.

8.2.2 JPOT.DO
The JPOT.DO is a special message that instructs the CHAMELEON display to show the increment of the
progressive jackpot amount in real-time as players wager on progressive system machines. Though you
can edit this message, there are some elements you should not change. Contact MIKOHN for more
information.

8.2.3 MESS.DO
The MESS.DO file is an idle-state message used to attract players to the machines. It shows on the
display only when no coin-in activity is sensed on any of the machines attached to the progressive
jackpot system after two minutes. It will repeat itself until a coin-in pulse is recorded, at which point its
stops immediately and allows the JPOT.DO message to take over.

8.2.4 DEMO.DO
The DEMO.DO file is a series of preprogrammed message lines that show the many different
presentation formats available for your messages. Although you can edit this file, you should not make
any lasting changes because this file can be used as a template on which your message can be modeled.

I got messages and current jackpot information to run on my CHAMII+!!! My display now reads:

current jackpot display (in the Dance mode for 9 seconds)
PLAY MAX COINS TO WIN PROGRESSIVE!!! (scrolling from right to left in multi-colored text)

then it repeats.

The jackpot does do the odometer action as you play the machine unless the "PLAY MAX COINS" message is scrolling accross.  In other words, it will cycle between the two messages on a schedule whether you are playing it or not.

The key was using jackpot token #8.

Well, here's my rick.do

Hey.....How do you load up the file to the DOS?

The do file in my case was named jpot.mk2.  When you exit and save, it saves a copy to that file.

What does the MFILE need to be set to?
other setting that may be critical?

Mine is not doing anything but Dazzle on the current amount unless I am playing then it will do the odometer effect

mfile set to 0.  Then you need to create your jpot.do file and uploaded with PSP.

I did get mine to do finally with batch files.

I created 2 files

backgrnd.bat

   prgsv c:four.pdf 5  \\ runs the progressive amount display for 5 secs
   text   b:attract.cmd

attract.cmd

   FONT(C:ODMTR8W.fnt);
   COLOR(1);
   CLRSCR();
   PRINT(  PLAY MAX);
   WAIT(10);
   CLRSCR();
   COLOR(2);
   PRINT(   CREDITS);
   WAIT(10);
   CLRSCR();
   COLOR(3);
   PRINT(      TO WIN);
   WAIT(10);

This way does not always show the update to the amount as you play though

I would rather do it via the jpot.do and mess.do

One thing that I have found out is the CHAMII+ does not like to take large uploads after booting up. Just like the demo message sticking...(which both Jay and Rick have pointed out)....it will not over write it unless you do it right after (boot up) the start up messages stop, and the unit starts to display. It will take a jackpot amount anytime. The 8 after the jackpot is listed in the help file (F9) and I tried it probably 20+ times, but it was "stuck" like the demo sticks. I finally figured out that it would take changes at boot up but I never re tried the jackpot 8. OK.............. :89- :91- :89- :91-..............Now it's time to work some more magic and get the 2 min time out display to work!  I had it work on me with a jackpot signal but as soon as it detected another coin in it went right back to being the same.
OK........Rick.............Let me know how many pounds of Coffee and Krispy Kreem donuts (or multiples of beer and pretzels) you need this weekend and I will Fed X it to you!!

And Thanks again!!  :3- :3- Tim

Oh........................how do you delay the jackpot a little longer before it swaps out with the message?

9 seconds (or close to it) is about as good as it gets so far.  There's a repeat command, but it only works with the con1.  I tried going higher than 9 and it would take 1 and then the jackpot message would get all messed up.  Then I tried doing the token twice, but it doesn't seem to work right if you do it twice.  I'm going to have to try putting the jackpot token after the play max coins message to see if that makes a difference.  The timeout message is going to be a little more difficult I believe.  There's one sure way to make it work...

Get a CON2  :71-

How are you writing the time for the jackpot? I started with the jackpot symbol 8 then then F1 and write the message. The jackpot display runs 5 seconds then the message then repeats. I tried adding the speed comand before the token but it still runs 5 seconds. Placing it after causes an error.    Thanks!    Tim

see attached.  The 9 represents "time" it's close to 9 seconds, probably a little less.

ok, if you put the jackpot token phrase (from Block to Jackpot token 8) after the message, the current jackpot amount will stay on twice as long.  I'm guessing you string 'em up like 4 in a row you can have like 30 seconds of jackpot display time before it goes into the message

Thanks everyone for all the help!      I am making a little headway in the programming. I just might be on to something. If you just use the default (hit F3 in the message page twice to erase all files) token setting it just stays there. Add only a paragraph symbol after it and I believe it jumps to JACK1.DO etc. It has something to do with how you place the paragraph symbol or not using one. I had it set up to run only the JP value on JPOT.DO and had written several different things in the other files JACK1.DO etc. I did not start JACK1.DO with a paragraph.......I ended it with it. I have not been able to duplicate this since it happened but I'M going to keep trying, but I had it display JACK1.DO once and then it reset, so I must have messed up one of the other JACK files and it went into restart. And this just might have something to do with it......I have 2 displays running on the CHAMII+, both set to MFILE 0 and SA with 1 running JP 0 and 2 running JP 1. The machine is set for High/Low with 2 IGT displays (Volcano) I was testing the IGT hookup and I hit the lower jackpot award again and the # 2 display returned to base value and started doing the default award dance showing the total won, then JACKPOT, then the remaining value, then REMAINING or something and kept repeating. I then loaded the CHAMII+ after a reboot and thats when it showed the jackpot total and then switched into JACK1.do  (I had "Test 1 written in there). Oh well.........Rainy day research time is over.................off to Radio Shack for a few more parts.     Tim :5-

BTW ...look at the way the demo file (7) writes left justify. Thats how I get it to work!

What is the proper sequence to get the CHAM II+ to do Left Justify and Double Width Characters.

I have placed the commands in every position between block mode and dazzle nothing seems to work.

I have also noticed I get errors before it sends the files to the Cham II+ so it takes like 10 or so times for it to get every file.

we have found through experimentation, that if you reset the chamII+ and wait until the jackpot amount shows up that if you send your .do files then, it is like 90% successful,  otherwise you have to send it like 10 times for it to work right.  As far as the Left Justify and double width I have not experimented with those attributes, would have to give it a try at my next opportunity, but I would guess that if you put them just before your actual text, it might work.

From my experimentation with the CON1.... (so I hope this helps).

Left Justify/Right Justify  only works if you first specify BLOCK MOTION

[Start paragraph][block motion][speed]6[left justify]Eat At Tims Bar-n-grill
