Title: Issue with Bally MasterCom 250 system
Post by: Foster on May 17, 2012, 05:58:16 AM
I noticed that my Bally MasterCom 250 was acting up.
Powered it off and back on now it stuck on "Booting....." on the Display

I am wondering if the EEPROM in the Controller got corrupted somehow, or did it fail because I had it under the stand where no air circulates.

I cant check the EEPROM, I need a programmer and trying to save for a nicer one.

I noticed that my Bally MasterCom 250 was acting up.

I'm wondering what you mean by this really.

I had a Mastercom get screwed up once.
Someone placed an audio speaker that had a nice magnet on it and it was stuck to the Mastercom casing.
I pulled it off and tried to start up the Mastercom.
I still haven't been able to get that one going even though the chips reads fine and works on another known good unit.
I think some other IC component got "magnetized".

When I looked at the display was corrupted / scrambled and that is when I rebooted it.
I am thinking the Bally Technologies logo might be part of the Chip that is custom programmed on the back of the VFD display.

I took the player bracket out of the machine so I could make sure it was not something with one of the wires, still stuck on booting.
Some one near me has one in his machine I will try my EEPROM in his and see if it works.
if it does then I know I need a another MasterCom 250

Sorry this took so long to test

The MasterCom 250 System board, and other components are good
The EEPROM either has failed or lost the programming.
I think it failed.

I have to see who can program a AM29F040 with my custom message

Would be glad to program it for you. Just pay postage both ways for the chip and supply the message you want it to say.

Anyone on here still use the GQ-2X programmer.

If you do I need the software, the version on the web site no longer supports the GQ-2X.
yes I e-mailed MCUMall but who knows how long it going to take for them to respond to my request.

I have the same programmer, and I had the software on an older computer that I no longer have!  :279-
I still have the original CD that came with it, but I remember there was a Patch upgrade that needed to be used for some reason.
I also remember that the patched software would always create a false positive with the anti-virus programs.

So I guess I am in the same boat as you are.  :104-

CommTech, I sent you PM

Coorlight, thanks for offering to help.

Thanks to whom ever you are that sent me the GQ-2X software

Well the Data on the EEPROM was corrupted not sure where because I think the file I modified originally is MIA or I cant remember where I put it
So I just modified a generic one and it works again, maybe another tweak or two and it will be perfect.
