Title: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: memusa on May 21, 2012, 02:11:27 PM Hi to everyone, I heard that such thing was already done by a company. Is this true? :103- Has someone heard about it? If not I believe is a good project to work on....
Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: knagl on May 21, 2012, 09:01:58 PM What is "GEN1"?
Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: memusa on May 21, 2012, 11:36:35 PM Printer Gen1 and there's a Gen2 such as a Ithaca 950. I'm not pretty sure about the models right now. Let me gather more info to make the post clearer.
Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: knagl on May 22, 2012, 02:09:37 AM Oh, for a ticket-out instead of coins? The PE+ software doesn't support TITO functionality -- anyone adding a printer would also have to add some kind of logic for it to know what amount to print, and the ticket wouldn't be able to be accepted by a different machine since it wouldn't talk to a central server.
I know there was a company that made a printer replacement for the IGT S+ slot machine (in fact, I'm pretty sure there was a post or two in the S+ section about it). The S+ and PE+ are pretty darn similar, so that device might work in a PE+, but as far as the machine would be concerned, it would still be spinning a hopper to spit out coins. Edited to add: Here's the website of the device I was thinking of: http://mail.mrrouteinc.com/products.html Some discussion of it here: http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=18115.msg151042#msg151042 Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: jay on May 22, 2012, 03:56:32 AM If I was so inclined to play with printers and such with my PE+ / S+ gear..........
I would probably replace the DBV series of validators in the slot with one of the units that interface to a PC with a USB. You would write a small program that would read the value of the bills or the value of a bar coded tickets. From there I would put credits on to the slot using the SAS serial rig that has been discussed in other threads. For printer output - The S+ and PE+ basically turn on the hopper motor until the optic has counted the correct number of coins have passed. This can be simulated by replacing the optic with a basic gate chip that would simulate the optic action. You simply pulse the gate and keep track of the count until the voltage driving the motor stops. You then print from the PC. With the hopper gone you should have ample internal room for a small media PC or old laptop. Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: memusa on November 26, 2012, 06:28:34 PM I found a functional thermal printer.... works pretty good. I even order it from a company that I won't mention since it doesn't support this site. :58- But for those who want to see it, just pm me and I'll send you a video via e.. :204-
Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: jay on November 26, 2012, 11:58:40 PM We don't restrict mentioning non - contributing companies.
We are not a commerical site and don't sell competing products. Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: memusa on November 27, 2012, 12:06:01 AM Ok.... I just thought that it wouldn't be convenient to mention it :103-. I'll post pictures tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.
Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: stayouttadabunker on November 27, 2012, 02:40:10 PM That would be cool memusa...!
Be interesting to see how you got it hooked up... :89- Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: memusa on November 27, 2012, 03:18:12 PM Here's a pic...
Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: memusa on November 27, 2012, 03:20:33 PM another pic..
Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: stayouttadabunker on November 27, 2012, 03:26:06 PM That is awessome!
I wonder how the wiring is hooked up? When you get a chance, could you make a simple drawing for those that might like to put one in their machine? No rush...we got all winter! :72- Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: memusa on November 27, 2012, 03:34:50 PM Printer connections are quite simple, a 7 pin wiring harness is provided and pinout is pin1 + 12 vdc red wire, pin2 a Dc Ground black wire, pin5 a Payout trigger yellow wire, Pin6 Ticket Out a Green wire. A 12 volts dc power supply4.5A is also provided with the unit. With the wiring harness in the machine just three connections are required. I'll post more info later... Winter Time!!! hahaha
Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: stayouttadabunker on November 27, 2012, 03:41:37 PM You lucky stiff! You don't have "winters"?!?!
You live in the south Caribbeans? Geez! I'd love to see what it's like down there! lol I'm up here in NY freezing my butt off !!! :72- Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: memusa on November 27, 2012, 03:46:45 PM Does 82 sounds good for you? cause that's the temperature right now..... :95- in my location....

Does 24 sound good for you? I didn't think so... :208- Lucky bastard! jk!!! :96- Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: TZtech on November 27, 2012, 06:45:46 PM Does this do ticket out only ? What does the part next to the printer do ?. If Your customers have to take the slip to the cashier to redeem are You not losing out on that "Lets try another machineone last time" customer ?
Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: memusa on November 27, 2012, 06:55:11 PM The component next to the printer is a bill validator, an yes is only a cash out voucher to redeem it at the cashier. Tendency in our locations is moving forward to coinless payouts. We even had to place a hopper emulator and fill by hand a cancel credits receipt. So this is way much better. Remember that there's more leaks on station involve coins during hopper payouts...
Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: TZtech on November 27, 2012, 07:12:58 PM Have You considered smart card based systems instead ?
Is a S+/PE+ to Futurelogic Gen2 printer interface something that would be of interest to anyone - Could be an interesting project? Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: memusa on November 27, 2012, 07:19:36 PM Sure it is.. By the way, it was my original question on this topic I named. Can it be done? :103-

Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: memusa on November 27, 2012, 07:55:31 PM Ok buddy... Got it!!
Title: Re: GEN1 with PE+? Post by: TZtech on November 28, 2012, 07:35:43 AM Great - Also have a look at this thread - http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=17783.0
Controlling the printer with a microcontroller could also allow us to create tickets for the Stand Alone TITO poject. |
