Title: FreePlay 3 for Odyssey Post by: TZtech on May 29, 2012, 12:28:33 PM Had a PM from another member to get the FreePlay circuit working on the Odyssey platform.
This thread will document any info relating to this particular platform Generic Info for the FreePlay project can be found here - http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?topic=15697.0 Title: Re: FreePlay 3 for Odyssey Post by: TZtech on May 31, 2012, 05:39:07 PM Odyssey IO
All info posted here is extracted from info on Robert Winters site with his permission - He is the GURU on the platform. I dont have an Odyssey - Another member asked me to try and get the Freeplay circuit working for is machine - Expect him to chime in on the thread as We progress. The Odyssey Machine has a optic board very similar to the IGT S+/PE+ platform so I would expect optics to be pulsed in the same sequence. The only differerence is that it also looks for a pulse coming from the comaparator. This presents a small problem for the PCB used for the project as it has only 3 switched outputs but another transistor can be added relatively easily. Attached is the circuit diagrams for the Optic board and the machines IO circuitry for the Optics and comparator. The coin comparator and optic board plug into connectors P64 and P66 of the main machine wiring harness. It is recomended to keep existing wiring intact if You want to switch back to original coin comparator functionality and make a new harness for the Freeplay mod. The circuit is build with a small PCB board available on EBAY containg a 8 pin PIC microcontroller , voltage regulator and 3 switching transistors http://www.ebay.com/itm/iCP07A-iBoard-Tiny-Extensions-Microchip-8pin-PIC12F675-IO-Board-/280765898155?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item415ef39dab (http://www.ebay.com/itm/iCP07A-iBoard-Tiny-Extensions-Microchip-8pin-PIC12F675-IO-Board-/280765898155?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item415ef39dab) A cheap programmer to transfer the code from Your PC to the board is available from the same source http://www.ebay.com/itm/iCP01-USB-Microchip-PIC-Programmer-Tiny-Low-Price-/280678080071?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4159b79e47 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/iCP01-USB-Microchip-PIC-Programmer-Tiny-Low-Price-/280678080071?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4159b79e47) Alternatively If You already have a device programmer it may be able to program the micro wich is a PIC 12F675 The connectors listed in the previous post are both Molex Minif Fit Jr Type connectors that are used fairly widely in the gaming industry. The Mating connectors to build the harness are 39-01-2080 and 390-01-2040 39-01-2040 - http://za.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Molex/39-01-2040/?qs=dvxwXVM4mZWb%2f%2fLVGn3xTchM6dAJHWH%2fhb67zdxrf7A%3d 39-01-2080 - http://za.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Molex/39-01-2080/?qs=KOdaDPWVOUbzOXPF%2f8en7w%3d%3d You will aslo need some wiring to build new harness.
