Title: Re: Roms Wrong Post by: riverratmike on June 05, 2012, 11:11:23 PM I had this happen to my SG50 when I removed the battery on the PCB board and then re-installed it. I had to reset the machine and that fixed it. Any photos of your machine you could post?

Title: Re: Roms Wrong Post by: chipw on June 07, 2012, 01:55:36 AM thanks for the responses i tried the reset and tested the battery. i think it said 3.4 volts. took chips out and reseated them and now i get no display at all. machine lights come on but no display. could it still possibly be the battery?
Title: Re: Roms Wrong Post by: riverratmike on June 07, 2012, 03:13:10 AM sounds like you have a loose connection in there somewhere. My SG50 was also malfunctioning when I got it. I just unplugged all the connectors I could find and re-connected them and poof.... it started working normally. If you have 3.4 volts doesn't sound like the battery to me is the problem.

A little background this mach would almost always say roms wrong when turned on after being off for an extended period of time. i would just to keep switching off and on and it would eventually start to work. after this last time of being off for at least six months i got the roms wrong and will not reset and now as stated previously the display is just blank after me messing with the board and chips. i have thought i have checked all connections a few times can you suggest anything else i should check. Thanks
Title: Re: Roms Wrong Post by: gminellono on July 02, 2012, 05:47:30 PM SG50B machine reads RAMS WRONG. Machine has been unplugged for years. Is the battery a clip on type or one soldered to the board? I'm uneasy about how to replace.
Title: Re: Roms Wrong Post by: riverratmike on July 02, 2012, 11:00:32 PM the battery is spot welded to a metal housing which is soldered to the MPU board. I found out the hard way and broke mine and tried to solder it back together but the solder wouldn't stick to the battery and I couldn't make a connection. So right now my battery is barely making contact to the plus and minus.
