Title: WBA Swap ?
Post by: BrokenWizard on June 06, 2012, 02:10:00 PM
Another, been asked before question.  I have a WBA 12-SS ID24 in a working machine. If I get a WBA 13 id24 with new money support can I just swap it into the machine and will it work?  Will I have to use a set chip to get it recognised and working?

If this is the wrong place to ask, excuse me as I've only been on Newlife for about a week and am still learning my way around  :59-

If you're swapping head and transport you should be fine. If you're only swapping the head you'll still be fine, but it won't change how the machine accepts money unless the transport software is current.

Thanks I'll be swapping head and transport. It'll be awhile but I'll post how it goes

If all you're worried about is getting it to take newer bills it's a whole lot cheaper to have the WBA 12 flashed by a vendor

Well the plan was to have a spare but, I swapped an WBA 131GT Id 24 out of my wild cherry IGT into my double diamond and it didn't recognise it. Guess I'll just have to go the flash route and get the 12 ss updated.

With the newer software unit did you re config the CRC in the game? When using newer software the game has to check the new CRC before the unit will work in the game.

No I did not. How do you reconfigure the crc? Do I need special chips i.e. clear/set?
I really would like to have all my machines take the new money. But I'm afraid of messing up
my working machine. (It was a birthday present for my wife and she'd Kill me if I screw it up)
Thanks for your help

Well after some great help offline and on I've decided to get the Double Diamond WBA flashed with the latest update.
Thanks for all your help and advice.
