I did a ram clear and tried to key with credits on the machine(stupid mistake) I cant get the keychip to work and wondered if it my be the credit issue. If so is there any recovery from this stupid mistake?

being a newb and just learning myself.. is it possible to start the game and clear the credits now? My guess is that you wont be able to actually clear it with the credits.. I could be wrong.. Id try to go in to see if you can clear the credits again, then clear the ram.. Maybe someone will chime in. What key chip are you using on what theme with which SB chip?

I cleared it, it cleared fine, when I put the keychip in I only get the 2nd amber light. In all of my prior uses both lights come on just like they were suppose too. I cleared it a couple of times and keyed it with the same result.

There is a difference when using an IVC00096 Clear chip versus the IVC00097 Clear chip. But basically, they both clear the ram chip. If I replace the chip I am stuck as it does not know what type of machine it is. When I put the key 17 in it will not allow me into the software.
Title: Re: Keychip Problems Post by: Buzz on June 08, 2012, 06:38:05 PM If after a clear it's showing a denom of .01 cent, I don't think it completely cleared the machine. I would try clearing it one more time, making sure you don't have a bent leg on the clear chip.

I think I read a couple of post about issues with clearing ram.

This is really frustrating as the prior clears and keys worked perfectly.
Title: Re: Keychip Problems Post by: Buzz on June 08, 2012, 09:28:17 PM I didn't have a Key 17 so just made one and cleared a machine ( I don't have the files for a clear 96 so used a 97 ) after the clear I got two lights, after power up with the key 17 in got two lights. Installed base chip and machine went into key menu.
I don't know if it makes a difference or not but the steps I do are not like the instructions Bettor Slots posted. I go from the clear, to the key, to the base chip in that order. As Bunker says I do S*** wrong, but it works !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Foster your absolutely correct, the VFD stays blank when using a Key 17, in my eyes that's one more reason to use a 31. If it left the denom who knows what other info. it left. To take this a step futher, I did a clear again with a 97, removed the two ram chips and put them in the eprom reader. I found nothing, the ram chips were blank, a check sum of 0000 and a whole lot of FFs. nexxt is the chip on the mother board. Key 31 and Clear 97 All S 2000 except R boards, Reel Touch, Vision and some special games like WOF Key 040 All Game Kings with 3802 / 3902 MPUs Key 22 All I games with 3902 MPUs Note I didn't say a word about 044 boards because I've never owned a 044 and I don't know what they take. If and when I get a 044 I will ask Blueridge or Capt. Happy what I need. Neither one of those two will give me a bunch of BS and a half dozen chip numbers ! Pretty short list isn't it. Maybe east of the Mississippi they need a dozen chips I don't know, I know I get by with 4. I don't get real concerned about what some manual tells me to use, I use what gets the job done. That more than likely should be reading "97" not 17 as there is no 17.... My hunch is, if its clearing the machine of data then you are good anyway... You should be able to get it up and going with your key chip atm. Ok.. from this point, don't clear the machine unless someone else chimes in..... There is no need to clear it as it is clear..... remove your MPU, remove your key, install base board reinsert MPU, power on machine.... Watch the VFD..... do the reels turn at any given point? After what seems the machine has initialized, what does the VFD read? Dont worry about the lights on the MPU at this point unless one is red or blinking red.....as they sequence anyway... Dont close your door fully... leave it open until it gives you a door open error.... |
