Title: Cant see the cards
Post by: 56freebie on June 23, 2012, 02:48:14 AM
I just picked up 3 1994 bally game maker machines. All 3 work but have the same problem with the cards on black jack and poker games extending horizontally off the screen. I tried to adjust but the controls on the monitor but no go Any suggestions ?

do you solder?  many, many monitor problems can be fixed by changing every electrolytic cap you can find a replacement for, aka "shotgunning" the caps.  i don't have much electronic training but i've "fixed" over a hundred monitors over the past 10 years just by changing caps.  i don't need to know which cap was bad, i'm just wanting to get the damn thing running again! :89-  this is especially effective if the monitor has been powered down for an extended period of time.  i'll see if i can find any of my old notes on the gamemaker monitors, can you post up the make/model of the monitor itself?  might make it easier for us to track down your issue :71-

not sure on those i usually work on Orions   but it could honestly just be the adjustment switches are bad??     maybe try that before you start going after caps ?? thats kinda like formatting because your favorite screensaver doesnt work

Could be the voltage regulator also. Check the center leg of the horizontal output, should be 130v there

Recapping did the trick fixed the problem. Bought a kit from Zanen Electronics for $8.00 plus shipping What a deal
I have another moniter that was blowing the fuse even after I recapped it. What do I look for or start?

Could be shorted bridge rectifier diode(s), voltage regulator IC or horiz output IC. Or any combination thereof

I would look for a solder bridge around the caps you replaced.

It was blowing the fuse before I replaced the caps

pic too wide?
on a tatung monitor cap C-19 is the culprit,   its located near the flyback,
