Title: igt s2000 red white and blue problems
Post by: itsvinny on June 28, 2012, 03:50:58 PM
Hi guys, before i start i would like to say that i am very new with machines like this, so any help given i would appreciate some noob speak :}

any way a few days ago someone traded me an igt s2000 3 reel slot machine for a crummy laptop, i thought it was a good deal until i got it home and turned it on....

my first problem was the "closure m" so i held the door closed and it worked for a few games and then i got "reel tilt" error so i opened it up to see what was going on i couldnt see anything out of the ordinary so i closed the machine

then i had "closure m" error again but the reels wouldnt stop spinning. then for some reason my boss took out what we thing is the ram board to re seat it thinking maybe it would help, but we got a ram error, then we replaced the cmos

battery and now we have "call attendant" when closed and the bottom light on the top of the machine is flashing fast, and when the main door is open an alarm goes off and says we have a ram error,

did we completely screw this thing up or is there any saving it? please help

First of all, CONGRATS on your machine!!   :136-

Now, lets talk about what you and your boss did....descriibe or provide a pic of what are you calling the CMOS battery, and how and what did you replace?  :103-

Also, #1 Rule: NEVER remove or install the MPU board without first shutting off the machine.

1st open door then alarm will go off  turn reset key till your vfd says hold little white button on the mpu for 3 secs {should turn reset key like 3 or 4 times i think till it tells ya to hold button} then it will tell you to shut door machine will reboot that should clear some or most of the errors.....that would be my 1st try if that dont work then remove mpu with THE MACHINE OFF and test battery and make sure everything is seated good......

i call it the cmos battery because thats whats its called on the mother board of a computer im unsure if theres a different name for it here but heres a picture of the components we removed, the battery was the only thing replaced.
 at the moment i do not have the reset key, is there any way i can clear errors without having it?

The machine is doing everything it should after a battery change, though it probably didn't need one. You'll need to get a reset key or a pair of wire leads running from the reset lock on the side of the machine to the outside of the cabinet so you can short them to simulate a key turn with the door closed. Closure M just means the door was closed, it's not an error code. Reel tilts are commonly caused by the door not being closed corrrectly. You have to make sure that release lever is seated completely when latching the door

Hell I know how he got it fixed and I don't even know the fellow.   He used his head and fingers for something other than typing !!!!  I'm proud of him.

Now that ugly green battery above and to the right of the battery you replaced ( in your picture,) carefully remove it from the board without damaging any traces below it. It's not needed for home use and will sooner or later leak and damage your board.

to fix it i disconnected the leads from the reset key hole, put wires on them and shorted it out a few times until the machine actually reset and bam it works after aligning the optics on the door :}

and if i were to remove the green battery are there any setting that would need to be fixed after?

i have another quick question, how would i go about setting the odds of winning, because right now wins are very rare and the pay out is only about 50 cents

There would be no resets required after removing the green battery so you'll be ok there. As far as payback percent, the s2000 models can be changed from the programming menus, but you'll need a keychip to do it. If you don't have one, place a classified ad here on the site and someone will get you taken care of. Ask for usage instructions with it. Your options on the machine will range from around 78-98% payback though I would bet it's currently set at 92 or better. Machines run hot and cold, just the way it is...

thank you very much for the info, but if its already set so high ill probably just leave it as it is for now, and just for informational purposes what role does the green battery serve?

None in your case. If I'm not mistaken those were for casino security related features not in place for a home user
