Title: Igt fortune I hopper problem Post by: gposing on July 09, 2012, 02:48:00 AM I m in the process of trying to bring one back to life. I have everything working but the hopper. If you win the hopper will spit out 3 to 4 coins then you will get a hopper time out. I checked the switch and it is working fine. I don't think the mpu is getting the message that coins are coming out. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the VPP or PMPP jumpers on the main board. I have know idea what the control. Any help would be appreciated.

See if the LED's change state when you lift up on the coin out roller. That is your switch matrix, but I don't really remember if it checks the hopper switch. You should be able to check all your switch closures with that, too. Old old machine....but nice.
Title: Re: Igt fortune I hopper problem Post by: gposing on July 09, 2012, 02:53:59 PM I read in the manual that I found on Rudy's site, that is the only input that is not displayed on the LED's. The switch when the hopper is full goes to the LED not the coin out. That was poor planning on IGT's part.
Title: Re: Igt fortune I hopper problem Post by: OldReno on July 09, 2012, 03:08:19 PM Sorry, my error, I'm old and forgetful. I agree, poor planning on IGT's part, but maybe they wanted to isolate that switch from the I/O for safety reasons...?
You might try holding up the roller during a pay, to see if that makes the machine time-out. (any error codes on screen?) That could be an indicator that the mpu 'sees' the switch. However your symptoms seem to suggest that no, the MPU does not see the switch, and only paying out 2 or 3 coins could show that the program shut down the pay because of a suspected runaway. I'm guessing it is programmed to shut down both in the event of a runaway, and for a no-pay. Did the Fortune 1 use optocouplers for I/O, or triacs/SCR's? May have bad input device from coin out switch on your mpu board. Please, what is the link to Rudy's site? Thanks. Title: Re: Igt fortune I hopper problem Post by: gposing on July 09, 2012, 03:31:38 PM I agree that it only pays a few because of a possible run away situation. I get a hopper time out error. It is a bit funny the message is chopper because they forgot to remove the C from coin in before displaying the hopper message. I am very new to this so I don't know what a optcouplers or triacs/SCR's are. Sorry! Rudy's site is rudysdeals.com.
