Title: game king coin in metr disconnect Post by: deevan on July 11, 2012, 02:14:55 PM hi to all
having a old game king with coin in /meter disconnect error. i know the logic board is bad. is there anyone here that knows which part to replace? thanks ron see attachment Title: Re: game king coin in metr disconnect Post by: Tilt on July 11, 2012, 04:37:33 PM That is the I/O board. When you have both of those error messages appear together the problem is normally on the MPU board (the one below that one). Assuming you have a 3902 board, the component that normally fails is U74. Sometimes the chip will have visible damage, such as a crack or burnt spot on it. If your not sure what kind of MPU board you have post a picture of it and we can tell you. Welcome to :nlg-

thanks for the reply the problem is the i/o board. i checked it in a different machine and the problem followed. Title: Re: game king coin in metr disconnect Post by: Tilt on July 11, 2012, 08:52:42 PM Oh Ok, good. I would replace the I/O switch panel board, in your photo it's the largest of the two boards. If you're looking at a specific component I would replace U7.
Title: Re: game king coin in metr disconnect Post by: deevan on July 12, 2012, 01:08:34 PM will do
thanks Title: Re: game king coin in metr disconnect Post by: Tilt on July 12, 2012, 02:07:18 PM In looking at the schematics a bit closer the coin/meter signals are processed by both boards, so it's really a 50/50 shot as to which one is bad. Swap one out, if it doesn't fix it then swap out the other. Once you know what board is bad we can looks at individual components.

Title: Re: game king coin in metr disconnect Post by: Tilt on July 12, 2012, 03:20:38 PM Ok, getting there. With the bad board installed, disconnect J51 from it. If the Coin In Jam clears, but the Meter disconnected error remains I would replace U5. Note you may have to open/close the door for the error message to clear.

is u5 cd 40106 the same as u7 141068j from a i/o board used in the i game +? Title: Re: game king coin in metr disconnect Post by: Tilt on July 12, 2012, 04:10:48 PM Yep, they are interchangeable. My parts list shows U5 is a 14106 but a CD40106 is installed on my board. The U7 on my I+ IO board is a CD40106 as well.
