Title: Easy 2032 Coin Battery Replacement
Post by: kenong on July 13, 2012, 06:34:32 AM
Check the voltage of the coin battery on the CPU board. If is below about 2.7 volts, its time for a change.. Go to Radio Shack & get a CR2032 Battery Holder,Rradio Shack # 270-009 ($1.99) & a standard 255mah 2032 battery. Remove the board from the tray by removing the sound board from the standoffs , then the board screws. using a 35 watt iron, remove the battery by grabbing the lead(s) from the top of the bd. with long nose pliers & heating the solder pad(s) from the other side. Install the battery holder so that the pin from the top clip goes to the solder pad + on the board. Just hold the holder in place with the pins over the holes in the pc board, heat the pads from the underside & it will drop into place. install the new standard 2032 battery with the + facing up... reinstall the boards on the tray.......

Now when the battery gets low, just use a standard 2032 battery replacement. The holder & standard battery combined are cheaper than a replacement battery with the leads welded on....Ken

I started putting the 2032 on s2000s and gamekings about a year ago because I was having problems with batteries dying a month or two after changing them and havent had any problems since.
