I put a Mikohn on a Bally 6000. I get E3 code. Rolls up credits OK.
Error codes are all C?

Interesting.

According to the manual for the Supreme, E3 is "EEPROM WRITE ERROR".  I'm guessing that you don't have a Supreme behind the glass there, but it's likely that Mikohn used the same error codes accross their platforms.

It's a cam II. Would that be an eprom in the Mikohn or in the slot? The machine works OK.

I must have something set wrong.

Tonight going to swap harness with one that is working & see if that helps

Swapped wire & no change.
Put another Mikohn in & OK. When have time will have to start setting it up again from scratch.

Just remembered that I was pissing around trying to get message in it the other day & something with that might be problem.

How do I clear all off to start over?

Unplug the power cord at the power supply
Then hold down the 2 buttons next to the switch
on the chamII+ board while holding them insert the power cord back in.
The display should flash a few times....then let go.
This will reset it,then put all the correct values back in on the chamII
using the switch and buttons.

If this doesn't work then I suggest replacing U19 on the chamII board
it should be a 27c2001 or 27c020 off the top of my head.

I don't think you have a E3 error but a C3
somehow its corrupt...start from scratch and post back results...

Thanks Tim, Just tried, got flash, reprogrammed it & same with E3
Guess bad chip

After watching the video and you saying about messing around with a message input
It looks to me the display is trying to switch back from jackpot value to a message.
Maybe you have a jackpot.do file setup in psp wrong...
Reset the whole thing and start over with psp not using the last config

Did the pull plug & get flashing.
Comes up with E3
Reprogrammed with different amounts & still get E3

I'd love to help you more on this but I'm off to bed
try replacing the U19 and start over is all I can suggest.

If you get to the point where you want to throw it up against the wall...DON'T  :81-
Send it to me and I'll fix it at no cost.....

Oh make sure the battery voltage is good if it falls below 2.8

When I was clearing did not move sw2. Moved sw2 & it cleared with E3 still there.
Programmed it & NO MORE E3.

Yes you have some reading to do on the message input.
Better throw a spare setup on the bench and start playing
many settings come into play on getting it to work right.
You might want to do a search on this as this has been discussed in the past,
of course you can always call me if you get stuck..It's a real hair puller the first time.

Turned on this morning & E3 again. Cleared & reset & OK.
I think problem is I have a message that it's looking for & this dummy did not set it up correct.
Have to find a way to delete message hanging in there.

Are you still stuck on this ?
My question to you is when you cleared the cham board
then used psp to set it back up, did you use the same configuration as last time ?
meaning did you save it from the last time you were messing around with a message
and just reloaded it,If so you need to start fresh with psp.

Go into the main psp page "Jackpot Display Configuration"
Select #4 Message Programming
You will then see 1-7

The only one that should show a message is #7 DEMO.DO
Do Not I repeat DO NOT clear that message.
Just have a look inside each one use F10 to back out
without messing it up.

If you do find a message in any between 1-6
this could be your problem.

One other thing you don't have the cham board set up as MFILE 0 by chance do ya ?

Every time I start it up The E3 is there. I clear it and use different configuration & it's OK until I turn
it off overnight.
I have it @ the shop.
Today I did what you said I SHOULD NOT.  I CLEARED THE MESSAGE. Guess I'll see what it's like when
I go to work tomorrow.

Got the best of me. Went to shop & E3 comes up again.
Maybe I didn't clear it right. HOPE SO.
If there's something in 1-6 what do I do with it?

I'd strongly suspect that the EEPROM on the board is bad.  It works until the board tries to write data (as a backup), and then realizes there's a problem and gives you an E3.

I made copy of U19 chip from a working one & tried it, same thing.

did you try swapping the the U4? this is the ram. or the U5 this is the flash memory.
The U19 is an EPROM (Electronically Programmable Read Only Memory), which can't be written to by the controller.

Thanks Wayne, Did not try U4 & U5. Can I copy & burn them from another?

 UPDATE --Makes no difference, I don't have blanks.

I took u19 - u5 - u4 & put them in a working one & all OK.
Put u19 - u5 - u4 from working one into the one with E3. No good. Still have E3. Clear , go back into psp & different
settings & get E3. cleared & reprogrammed 3 times & get E3 everytime. Before when I reprogrammed got rid of E3 until I shut
done & started up again. :208-

7 demo.do & 5 jpot.do are the only ones with something in.

I play around & after several tried I get E3 cleared.
Take time programming. All goes good until I hit f1 to send. $ amount comes up but get E3 code again.

2 things,  1) connect known good controller and start psp program, load from controller. Disconnect good controller then connect E3 controller, load to controller. 
2). Look at every setting on the controller itself and match to good controller.

If this doesn't work, swap cpu chip from good controller and try.

it asks for sub-path - I SUCK @ DOS & don't know what for path to put in.
& if I figure out how to set path problem will be to recover

Send files from good one to the one with E3. Files updated but still have E3.
Can't get E3 off with a clear anymore.

Thanks to stormrider (Tim) it is working. I had switched 3 of the chips with no help.

It was my pleasure to help you out.

The first thing I did was check the battery which was fine
Looked for any bent pins,bad solder joints,cracked board,bad traces,caps,etc
Then reseated all the chips reprogrammed in psp fired it up and whamo E3

So then I swapped out all the socketed chips on your ChamII+ board
with one from a parts board I had and also put in a newer ver of the U19.
Reprogrammed in psp,board ran fine throughout the next 2 days shutting if on/off several times
which is what seemed to always trigger the E3.

I can't say at this time what the problem was until I start swapping the old chips one by one
I just didn't have enough time over the weekend to do this....I will though and report back.
Heck I even had my daughter's boyfriends broken xbox on the bench too,
like I wanted to fix that...I got my own broken chit to fix  :89-

Anyway board ran fine for 2 days before sending it back
and I hope it stays that way.

Not only did I want to help you...but also learn what causes the E3..but I didn't yet  :37-
