Has anyone ever had the reels on an S6000 get extremely hot? The reels on my Bonus Frenzy get so hot they burn your fingers, and they even make the top of the door very hot to the touch also!  I am thinking about swapping out the power supply first, but I thought I would see if anyone else ever ran into this problem before I begin ripping the machine apart???

Can't say I ever felt up my reels while playing  :208-.....are they acting funny or noisy? :103-  What gave you the clue they were hot. The flouresant tube will get the door frame hotter than the reels ever would. To get the door frame hot those reels would have to be hot enough to melt the reel strips. :50- :50- :50-

I was plaaying with the reels trying to quiet them down and got burned...... They are VERY HOT!

So to answer my question...they are noisy???  I have some quiet spare reel motor assemblies if you need some, everything but the basket. $5 each plus shipping.

Bonus Frenzy reel motors always run hot and very noisy. the bally 4 reel games use the the same power supply as the 3 reel games. The best guess is that the power supply is not designed to handle the extra reel and because the power supply is very well designed it won't fail, but it does loose tolerance and stepper motors require exact voltage and so on to operate properly. It's just a Bally screw up. I have unplugged all the reel harnesses at both ends all the way to the backplane and clean all the plugs and contacts with a good contact clean (with toothbrush). mine stayed quieter for about 6 months before I had to do it again.

Good point...I have the Lone Ranger Frenzy running and the reels are very quiet. I do have the reel strips fitted well and tight with tape strips securing the ends and I use de-oxit on all connections when building machines...and this one was a pride and joy, so it got extra attention.  You might want to try those items, and swap the reels around , since they stop one at a time you can narrow down the loud one by moving it to position 4. Then you can find the loudest and replace it if needed.

Coors,
I think the de-oxit and the tape is the way to go, as you are always gona have angry reel motors cause of the P/S issue. I don't think you can ever cure that. Minimizing the vibration and insuring the best possible connections is the only fix. I am willing to bet, though that your reels are still louder then your other machines......Yes?
