Title: Bally 6000 Speaker Question
Post by: jdkmunch on February 12, 2009, 11:36:03 PM
I've noticed that some Bally 6000 slot machines have speakers up on the award glass.  Does this mean that this type of machine needs special glass to fit around the speakers?

Yes, the top glass contours around the speakers. I copied the below pic from the Ebay listing from one of our members and spnosors, Tophat79.

Is there any difference between a 6000 with speakers on the front?  Or are they the same with the speakers just placed on the side?  :103-

Some have the speakes up top some don't.  I think it has do with the manuf. date -early models /late models-?  Both of mine have speakers in top and squigged up top glass.  Maybey these are 6000 pro's-?.  Anyway I like them.  Both of mine are later manf. date models.  B.

Yaaa - the thing is I have a  bunch of 9" kits and If I get a 6000 that has the squigged glass then those kits are useless.   If the machines are the same then why not get one that will fit my kits? right?

I am not really sure if they made a 6000 in 9 inch with top speakers.  Have only seen 16 or round using that.  There is a chance I am wrong but I have not seen a 9 that I can remember with top speakers. B.

As long as thee isn't an electronic difference it wouldn't bother me.  I don't want to find out the the models with the speakers come with some sound card and have cool features that the speakerless model doesn't have.

The S6000 cabinet is the same, the top box brackets are different which the speakers attach to.  You would have the pro sound board with them also.  You can have the pro sound board without the top box speakers also, and in that case it is only connected to the bottom speaker.

I haven't found any other documentation on the devils bonus spin display yet, you might want to ask the ebay seller if they have a cable.

Thanks,
Wayne

these other posts were in between.  If you have a cabinet with the speakers in the top box, you can change it but would need the player tracking cover also.  The "electronics" would be the pro sound board and as in previous post it will work with or without top box speakers.

Hope this helps,
Wayne

So,  Without them being officially called this the ones with the speakers up top could be classified as the "pro" series-?.  They do have good sound in my opinion. Also I think buyers need to be aware when looking for kits for these the diff. in them compared to what you have/want. B.

all of the S6000 are PROSLOT 6000, the sound is good even without the pro sound board, it just adds some various sounds depending on the game and sound chip.

Wayne

It sounds like someone with a machine without the top speakers might end up doing a mod to add the extra board and speakers without cutting into the glass. Perhaps the speakers could either be mounted inside the box behind the glass or in side holes cut into the top, that is, if the top speakers produce sounds that the bottom speaker does not when the extra sound board is installed. If they don't, then it's probably not worthwhile to add them.

Stat, thats a good idea. I added the speaker for the deluxe sound board in my Gamemakers. Just drilled a few holes and mounted/covered with a screen cover. Of course, Are all 6000 games compatible with the pro sound? They may be game specific and therefore need that cabinet and have the contoured top glass.

Wayne -  I did ask the seller .. actually I kinda begged .. but she doesn't have it.  I don't think that it will be an issue making one though.  Once I get a 6000 I'll have a look feature light connector on the motherboard.

Here is a pic of the top box with speakers, as you can see the speakers attach to the rails that sit at each side.  If you wanted to use regular glass, they could easily be moved.

This picture shows the top box player tracking plate for machines with speakers.  You could use the notched glass in a machine without speakers as long as you had this cover.  The player tracking mount plate is the same on either machine.

Thanks,
Wayne

Wayne thanks. I'm going to get the model that has the speakers on top and just mod it to take the reuglar glass. This way I know the sound board is in it.

The sound board mounts beside the number 1 reel (left side).  The volume control knob is on it aslo.  Here is a pic of the entire machine.

Thanks,

Thanks for all the pictures and info.   I did get a machine that has the speakers - I am meeting another NLG member at the end of next month to pick it up.   I am going to look for the player tracking plate that doesn't have the speakers so can use the kits that aren't cutout.

I have a "Winning Times" slot with the two top speakers and the Pro sound II board installed as well. Do I need to disconnect the bottom speaker to make this slot sound right? Also is there any sound settings on this slot machine that I can change either from the dip switches or through programming?

Thanks,

David

If you added this, then be sure to connect the PS2 wiring to the lower speaker.  The non Pro sound wiring would be disconnected.  There are 3 speakers that hook up to a PS2 board, 2 top and the bottom.

Thanks,
Wayne

Pro Sound (Pro Sound 1) boards usually only hook up to the bottom speaker.  The Pro Sound 2 board hooks up to both top box and the bottom speaker.

so with this board and the harness that I have, should I just run the harness to the top speakers and diconnect the bottom one? Or would I be better off to find a pro sound II board and the correct harness?

Pro Sound (Pro Sound 1) boards usually only hook up to the bottom speaker.  You can hook all 3 speakers up to it, but it wont sound like a Pro Sound 2.
