I was wondering if you had any info on S2000 PS. I contacted IGT and they wont repair, you have to buy new. We are using a Autec Power Systems Model# MCP-8011. You helped me out with alot of ACSC in the past so I thought I'd hit you up again. I appreciate any info you can give. Thanks (Replied by Mike) Hi Slotdoc, I've attached a schematic for the Autec P/S, I usually start by re-capping a power supply, then test again for voltage, if the voltage isn't there I start at the bridge and work my way to the outputs checking for voltage along the way. Sorry, I'm not of more help, but I've had very few of these P/S take a dive on me. Good luck, Mike><> (Appreciated by Slotdoc) Thank You much appreciated. Title: Re: Various Power Supply Repairs (mostly Williams)... (By Belbenchtech) Post by: SAT (aka GANDHI) on September 18, 2008, 08:40:00 PM I'd like to thank "Edfromshreve" from the Delphi Forums slot tech for the following information...
High Perfection Technology power supply Model; GP5300P-15 C4 & C5 are high failure components...if the P/S stops functuing suddenly chances it is due to these two capacitors. I had three of these down and this tip allowed me to repair two out of the three! Mike><> BTW...this is a Wms. BlueBird P/S... Title: Re: Various Power Supply Repairs (mostly Williams)... My cham II power supply went down hissy fit and after searching all the visual looked good (smell, caps, traces, fuse) and it turns out my R1 is bad (460 K ohms) but reads (1.2 M ohms) when removed from board. I will replace tomorrow but could this be telling me I have other problems. novice open to advice.... It's alive replaced R1 Title: Re: Various Power Supply Repairs (mostly Williams)... Mike You wouldn't happen to have a schematic for the William BBU power supply would you? I sure could use it. We have several that have blown a couple of resistiors and capacitors so I can get a value for them. Thanks Joe (belbenchtech) Hi Joe, I'm sorry, I don't have a schematic for the BB power supply...I contacted Williams trying to obtain one, but was told that they (Wms) had many suppliers and I would have to contact the manufacturer and request schematics from them. A couple weeks ago I tried to find a web site for High Perfection Technology and haven't had much luck... If you can give me the board ID (i.e.; R407, R72, C410, C9, etc...) I'll look on the board and relay the information to you... Mike><> (Railroad94) Mike, have a 80960 S-2000 board with bad U-67 chip. Not equipped for board repair but going to try, have the old one removed with no damage just need to replace it. Do you have any on the bench to get rid of SMT 74c240 IC,OCTAL BUFFER/DRV. Anthony (belbenchtech) The last I checked Newark Electronics had them...P/N 34C1244 for $4.78each...the price might be out dated. Hope this helps... Mike><> (Railroad94) Thanks, seems like the parts get out dated quicker then the price these days. Looks like the first thing that goes when something is not right is the U67. I've seen a few boards like this Have you seen many of these and wonder what the main culprit is when they blow. hotswap etc. (belbenchtech) It looks like hotswapping could have alot to do with the IC going belly-up...U67 is a buffer/driver much of the U721 SENET IC information is distributed through U62 (a Hex Level Shifter 4504B) to U67, I've had some show up with chunks blowed out of them. If U67 is "bad" make sure you check U62 & U721, as one or both of these chips may have caused U67 to take a dive... Hope some of this is some kind of help to you... God bless, Mike><> (Railroad94) U62 and U721 I will look at. U67 are like you describe with chunks missing. Great help K+ Thanks again Mike Title: Re: Various Power Supply Repairs (mostly Williams)... On Williams Bluebird Power Supplies manufactured by "High Perfection Technology" many times replacing C4 & C5 will repair the pwr supply. If this doesn't facilitate a repair, you need to check U2 (MIP162...I know it looks like a pwr transistor, but there is much more going on inside than I would have ever guessed!), these can be purchased through Happs P/N 61-1015-00 for $32.38, this component usually self-destructs (loses a leg) if it is bad. Another problem "child" in the circuit that I just found out about a couple weeks ago is T5, everytime I have had a MIP162 that was FUBAR and replacing U2 didn't facilitate a repair T5 has been shorted internally. Maybe, more important is the need to reverse the fan in any & all Bluebird power supplies...with the fan drawing air across the components inside the power supply dust becomes impacted in the P/S housing causing the premature failure of the power supplies. I tested this theory on a bank of 15 Williams BBs along a wall, after three months with the fan reversed the power supplies had very little dust accummulated among the components and I believe they are actually operating cooler! Good luck & God bless, Mike><> Title: Re: Various Power Supply Repairs (mostly Williams)... (By Belbenchtech) Post by: Belbtech on August 11, 2009, 10:32:50 AM Aristocrat MK VII Power Supplies (model MK7-400-1)...
Besides being one of the worst designed & engineered power supplies ever conceived, it is a major pain to work on due to the fact 99% of the components are surface mount... That being said, & the fact that the manufacturer doesn't even want them back to re-work...the power supply can be repaired, most of the time there are 13 to 15 components that fry when this power supply goes belly-up... The components that usually fry are; R37-R38, both 22 Ohm resistors....R39-R40, both 47 Ohm resistors....R130, a 12 Ohm resistor....R131, a 130 Ohm resistor....R132, a 33 Ohm resistor....R133, a 39 Ohm resistor....R43, a 0.47 Ohm resistor (R43 is the only thru-hole resistor, all others mentioned are SM.). D9-D10 both L4W =BAT54 surface mount diode (3 leg component) D11, a LT8216...that I couldn't find, I have substituted a B130B diode, it's rated at 40V, 3A. Q3-Q8, both W9NK90Z a 900V, 8A MOSFET (Q8 is usually OK, you should check it just in case!). U1, a UCC28513DW Pwr. Mgmt. IC Some of the components listed may not have gone belly-up & others not listed may have, each component should be checked &/or compared with a known good component. I have substituted many of the components that were destroyed. Just remember that when substituting it is normally ok to use a like component as long as the voltage &/or amperage is rated higher than the one being replaced... Hopefully this will help some... God bless, Mike><> Title: Re: Various Power Supply Repairs (mostly Williams)... (By Belbenchtech) Post by: Belbtech on September 08, 2009, 12:30:12 PM This might be of interest to some...this refers to the power supplies that power Kortek LCD monitors...
We don't have the 150s (we still have CRT bartops), but we have quite a few KTL170S-31 (used in Game Kings)...many times, different size monitors manufactured by the same company have VERY similar parts, circuits, & designs...if the 150s have an open power supply chances are it's the same one used on the 170s...the P/S is marked; "KT-PS60PFR PWB-A006AR REV : 00" I repaired two 170s this morning by replacing the small capacitors that are mounted between the fins of a couple heatsinks, the board IDs are C825 (a 1uf, 50V), C828 (a 47uf, 50V), & C836 (another 1uf, 50V)...out of seven 170 power supplies replacing these three capacitors has repaired five of them... Hope this helps... God bless, Mike><> Title: Re: Various Power Supply Repairs (mostly Williams)... (By Belbenchtech) Post by: Fingroper on September 09, 2009, 09:44:28 PM Hi Mike,
I see earlier on you have supplied the schematics for the SECTEC - MK5PFC power supply. Would you happen to have the schematics for an earlier version, SECTEC - MK5S2A? Thanks Title: Re: Various Power Supply Repairs (mostly Williams)... (By Belbenchtech) Post by: Belbtech on September 10, 2009, 01:27:50 PM Hi Fingroper,
I don't have a schematic for the SECTEC MK5S2A, but if you go to; http://forums.delphiforums.com/slottech (http://forums.delphiforums.com/slottech) There is a Aristocrat technician (Doc Jennings) that visits the site regularly...he is pretty sharp concerning much of the Aristocrat themes & games, if he doesn't have the schematic he possibly can set you up with someone that can fix you up... Hope this helps, good luck... God bless, Mike><> Title: Re: Various Power Supply Repairs (mostly Williams)...
