Title: Ballys Hopper wont pay out....Any ideas? Post by: Dustin on August 27, 2012, 02:24:57 PM I have a Ballys e-series quarter slot- single payline. It works until you win.
Then error code 32 pops up for the hopper being empty. Ive filled it full of quarters and this still happens. When you win, everything works as it should except the payout. Doesn't sound like anything in the hopper is turning at all. There is a delay then the tilt and error code pop up. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks, Dustin Title: Re: Ballys Hopper wont pay out....Any ideas? I found that it was a capacitor on the hopper board. Found a guy on ebay that has modernized this board. Bought one and it worked great. Now Im getting error code 43 reel error and am stuck on that. If its not one thing its another Title: Re: Ballys Hopper wont pay out....Any ideas? Post by: Amachanic on October 15, 2012, 10:02:13 PM Code 43 refers to your 3rd reel. There could be a bad reel board. You can try to switch the 3rd reader with one of the first two to see if the code moves. What E-Series machine do you have? A 1000 or 2000 series? The earlier ones were 50v and used small light bulbs, where later ones were 5v using infared sensors. Sometime the reel codes can be caused by a slow spinning reels.
Title: Re: Ballys Hopper wont pay out....Any ideas? Post by: Dustin on October 16, 2012, 09:36:05 AM It is a 2000 series. I tried swapping reel 3 for 1 and still got the 43 tilt. Its really odd because it comes and goes. It never works when I turn it on. If I leave it on for a few hours sometimes it will work until I shut it off, but then its the same thing when I turn it on the next time.
Ive ran all the tests and it seems to check out ok. I was told it might be a kick switch going bad. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Title: Re: Ballys Hopper wont pay out....Any ideas? Post by: Amachanic on October 16, 2012, 11:12:18 AM If your code stayed the same after moving the reeder, then I would tend to lead towards cleaning and oiling the reels assembly. There are many small levers and pivot point under the reels. If they don't move freely then you can get a reel code also due to how fast the reels spin. There are also oiling holes on the reels hubs to get oil to the needle bearing inside that spin on the main shaft. Took me a while and a lot of head scratching on codes 41-43 to realize it not all caused by just bad reel readers. Just remember to use a light weight machine oil, and just a drop or two goes a long way. I beleave you can test your kick and arm switches under test #3.
