Title: to JCM wba tech's
Post by: Mr. Dinoman on August 30, 2012, 10:51:44 PM
I have a question....I have a wba-23 transport with a wba-23 head...Of course it does not take US bills and the software is for Russian currency...Now here is the problem, I purchased a wba-13 transport with a wba-13 head and IGT software came with it...I put in a chip with ID003 vers. 3.75 in the wba-13 transport (with the wba-13 head) and it does not work-not even any LED lights...Now when I put the ID003 software in my original wba-23 transport and use the new wba-13 head, it work fine...If wba-13 and 23's are supposed to be the same, it should have worked both ways-correct?...So my brain tells me that there is a difference in the 13 & 23 transport...Anyone know what that might be?

Do you have a Comm Board on the side of the Russian WBA-23, are you using in a Bally Alpha or a WMS 550? Aristocrat?

The 13 and 23 Transport are the same unless you have added hardware like a comm board on the left side as looking at it, just the head is different between the 2

The only thing I see on the 23 left side is a board that is used for the bezel...Is that the comm. board and what does it do that a 13 does not...

Without knowing what machine model or a pic. just put the US software and 13 head on the transport that was a 23 and it is now a 13 done and working, without knowing model of slot or a pic of left side I won't guess, but sure it is a RS-232 comm board. my guess you have a WMS 550 or Aristocrat??????????

here you go, it has a Comm Board, (Specific one a that) there is nothing wrong with the BV's you got that had IGT software in them, they don't use any comm board, wanna sell the 23 head?

I believe that is also a 24v to 12 v conversion board. It looks like the one used in Aristocrat games that contains the voltage conversion as well as the TTL to RS-232 communication conversion.
And yes the only difference between a WBA 13 and a WBA 23 is the head and the software.

Does JCM have any information on these boards?

After some digging into this, it appears it is a custom serial board, but not a 24v to 12 converter...Without this board a regular 13 or 23 would not work...All in all the bill acceptor is now working with the original wba-23 transport (with the custom board) and a wba-13 head with IDoo3 installed...
Thanks all for your input...
