Title: Main battery still low after replacing. Post by: charliexray on September 04, 2012, 09:09:58 PM I think I have an S+. The mother board is Model 1952-0. The machine stopped working with a Main Battery Low message. A couple of years ago I soldered in a coin battery holder so changing the battery would be easy. After changing the battery I still get the same error message. I did notice the Varta battery is leaking a little. Could this be the cause? I read some posts about removing the Varta battery, but that was for a different motherboard. I did have to go through the "Press the test switch for 2-3 seconds" procedure. Now I am left with Closure M, Main battery Low, and Call attendant. I think the Closure M will go away once a game is played. Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. I just noticed I posted in the S2000 area. I'm sorry about that. I don't know how to move the post to S+. -Charlie Title: Re: Main battery still low after replacing. Post by: rjpohl on September 04, 2012, 09:13:41 PM You may have some "stacked" errors. Open and close the door a few times. Error are cleared one at a time
Title: Re: Main battery still low after replacing. Post by: charliexray on September 04, 2012, 10:13:08 PM Thanks, rjpohl. That worked. I don't why I couldn't clear it before. I'm sure the door was opened and closed several times earlier.
Do you or someone else know if the Varta battery can be removed or should I replace it? Does removing it cause any problems? Title: Re: Main battery still low after replacing. Post by: Neonkiss on September 04, 2012, 10:13:27 PM If your getting error meaasges of "Press the test switch for 2-3 seconds" procedure. Now I am left with Closure M, Main battery Low, and Call attendant. You do have a S2000
Now we need to know if you have a 502, 504 or Enhanced board. Post some pictures if you don't know Title: Re: Main battery still low after replacing. Post by: charliexray on September 05, 2012, 12:29:04 AM Board says Super Stepper Controller, G76261 P/N 75510502 Rev A.
See Pics. (The Multimedia Lite board is removed in the pictures) So the question is... Does the Varta battery need to be replaced or can I remove it? Thanks Charlie Title: Re: Main battery still low after replacing. Post by: PLUNGER BOY on September 05, 2012, 12:37:34 AM green battery is not needed on this board it is just an acid leak waiting to happen
Title: Re: Main battery still low after replacing. Post by: charliexray on September 05, 2012, 12:42:54 AM OK, that's great news. Do I need to do anything after removal like solder in a jumper across + and - ?

Post by: PLUNGER BOY on September 05, 2012, 12:50:05 AM Your board seams to be a 502 board which is a older version i do not have any of these older style boards but i think a jumper was added to the + to + were the battery was removed . i do not know if that was necessary or not . adding the jumper wont hurt but may not be needed
Title: Re: Main battery still low after replacing. Post by: CVslots on September 05, 2012, 01:10:26 AM Ok, no offense meant at all, because we have all done it, wether we admit it or not.....Did you check the voltage of the "new"battery after install...and are you 1000% sure it is installed the correct direction (+ to +, - to -). Sometimes we overlook simple things...And installing a battery backwards will give a low battery error...
Title: Re: Main battery still low after replacing. Post by: charliexray on September 05, 2012, 01:19:07 AM Yes, I checked the voltage before the install. The battery holder has a + on it for checking polarity. Anyway as i said earlier, all is OK now. I was just concerned about the green battery removal. If i needed to jumper across + and -, or +and +. Tomorrow I will remove the green battery because it is leaking and causing corrosion.
My thanks to all you helped me sort this all out. Take care, Charlie Title: Re: Main battery still low after replacing. Post by: Foster on September 05, 2012, 04:33:35 AM +(pos) to + (pos) only
