Have you tried clearing it BEFORE changing the SG chips?

I haven't tried that yet I'm at work but I was thinking can't I just change the stepper chips without a ramclear???

SB chips you generally can. Don't know about SG chips. Check the legs good when you put them in also.

The only thing you are changing is the two SG chips, with one the error is there and the other it is gone....Not a clear chip issue then. Clear chip is clearing the ram. If the ram has an issue, changing the SG is not going to change that. Error should be there on both. The error is coming from the OE SG chips. You have a bent leg, poor contact or a bad chip. What SG chips are you using when this error occurs? While you are at it..might as well tell us what SG, SS and Version chips you are running so we have a complete picture..

what clear chip did you use?

this is from the sg 328 PSR
Clear Chip This IGT utility program enables the operator to clear the game memory. Use
IVC00223 (or replacement) to clear RAM or use IVC00224 (or replacement) to clear
RAM and EEPROM.

if you used an IVC 097 when you cleared with the sg 328 in, it may not have cleared correctly,

i used a  IVC00224........ i was thinking let me try using the multi denom chips which were the 371's and try using the single denom version chip which was 9gx0 and it worked didnt need to do a clear just had to key it with a 45 and bingo worked like a charm!!!! with no errors  :89-
