Title: ebay feedback - I am so bad
Post by: FOXSSLOTS1 on September 15, 2012, 12:09:14 AM
got a guy who bought a glass and he DEMANDED I give him feedback - well I didn't (I automatically update feedback once customer receives item and provides positive feedback - what good does it do to say someone PAID?)  and he gave me a negative for not doing so.  No complaint about the glass - the shipping - just because I didn't give him BUYER FEEDBACK - since ebay does not allow us VULNERABLE sellers the great opportunity of FLAGGING buyers - they have free reign to SMEAR the seller.   for reference the guy is BALLYDOGBOB in case you have dealings with him.

Wow!  What an @$$!  I hope you finally gave him feedback ... negative that is.  :Dave

Whenever I buy something off EBay I always at least say thank you in the feedback section

If I sold on eBay (which I hope to start soon) I would make a Note about the buyer IE: Name shipping address billing address and any other info i could collect about them and then if he tried to buy again deny the purchase

I know it sounds harsh but isn't the rule that you have the right to refuse service like in a physical store

And demanding Feedback to me is like Demanding RESPECT if you deserve it you will get it

END OF LINE

Wow What an @$$ is right. When I run into @$$es like that I put them on my block bidder list. No more future problems with them.

Good to know Barry....I'll add him to "the list"...which isn't that long really (2-3 bidders)... But still..that's wrong.  :60- :60-

We recently had dealings with a seller who shipped items not as described (clearly, NOT as described, not even a question), and he offered to make it right with a partial or full refund, and then added "either of which you choose will REQUIRE that you leave positive feedback".... Hahahha, nothing REQUIRES me to leave positive feedback. Nothing except selling what you say you are selling, shipping when you say you will ship, and delivering what you promised!!! I think there's a term for it in eBay world..Feedback Extortion!

I expect the seller to leave me feedback when I'm the buyer as soon as I pay. That's what I do when I'm the seller... and yes, Barry, that's what buyer feedback is for; they pay, and do so promptly without stringing you out for a week or 3.

first - there is no NEGATIVE feedback for the BUYER.  the only feedback you can provide is POSITIVE - he paid.  I used to allow ebay to automatically issue feedback to the buyer when they paid      - but I was lucky to get 1 out of 50 transactions updated by the buyer - so I changed it to update when they update my feedback.  I get more feedback except - I get this bozo who says I have to go first.  The other issue here is ebay bases your fees on your rating so NEGs don't help - so buyers can really screw things up.
Lastly I have had a pretty good run - in one day I got 2 negs - one from this idiot another from a guy who ordered one of my stands - refused it when it was delivered - filed a case with Ebay - WHICH I WON - YIPPEEEE.   but he used his ebay right to slam me as a crook!!!   oh well - enough venting for now.

Hey,
I'm all for posting up a ban list for buyers on ebay.
I've had my share of them too. My list is short as most are good people, but would like to hear from the sellers the user ID's of buyers that have screwed them over. Ebay and Paypal almost always sides on the buyer, but as sellers we can prevent/ban them from bidding.
Again, most are good people but there are a few that will take advantage of the seller.

Until this forum there was little to know information about slot machines or repairs on the net. It's a very tight nit group of folks and the word gets around fast when you screw someone over.

The Feedback is a rating of the overall transaction, not just wether they pay in a timely manner. That's why they ask about things such as shipping time, shipping costs, item description, etc. If a seller leaves feedback immediately upon receiving payment, there is no way to change it should a problem arise with the buyer (customer not pleased with product, lost in transit, whatever). Now the buyer can slam the seller in feedback even if unjustified, when the buyers already left something like "excellent eBayer, highly recommended". Sure if negative feedback is left, the seller has a chance to leave a brief response, but thats it.

Sorry to disagree, but common practice for me is to wait until the buyer leaves feedback before I do....this insures me that they are happy and I've fulfilled my role as the seller.

Barry  - you can file a complaint with ebay...I would! This is "unfair" feedback and I think it can be removed. I know there's a place to file a complaint on ebay. There is NO reason you should get negative feedback for that reason. I've had sellers never leave me feedback and I just gave up.

I rarely if ever leave feedback.  If something was above the norm that really stands out then I do or if the transaction was a total bust I leave negative.  After all I don't send a letter to walmart every time a buy a gallon of milk to say it was fresh and the wait in line was acceptable.

A lot of buyers do not realize the impact of leaving NEGATIVE feedback for a seller. Sellers are subject to losing discounts on fees when feedback reaches 99% or less (either 99% or 98.5% I believe), which isn't hard to reach if a seller is relatively low volume. So if 1 buyer leaves a negative, it takes 99 others to leave positive feedback to make only 1%!!!! There is such a thing as NEUTRAL feedback which a buyer can give. In eBays eyes, NEGATIVE feedback is not taken lightly.

Well this is a thread of sellers , so let's put the other boot on.  I as the highest bidder am only required to do one thing to earn a POS feedback and that's to pay in a timely manner. The way I look at it I've earned that PoS and I don't need a seller holding back his feedback like a club until I first leave him feedback. If I don't get feedback first then the bottom line is there will not be any feedback left by either party. As a buyer feedback doesn't mean much to me, but as a seller I think it does, so tell me why do you as a seller want to piss off the buyer ??

brichter  you and I agreed on something. Where have you been ??

Your and outstanding guy.  :244-
and most ebay buyers are.
However there is the occasional A-hole that can make your like a living hell by misusing buyer protection rights.

Sorry to disagree, but common practice for me is to wait until the buyer leaves feedback before I do....this insures me that they are happy and I've fulfilled my role as the seller.

And if there is a problem you hold their feedback as ransom to make the buyer take it in the shorts? (empirical you, not you specifically)? This appears to be what Barry did to his buyer, wouldn't post fb until the buyer did first... thereby ensuring there wouldn't be any complaints on the transaction.

I had a seller do this crap to me, turns out the reason was because he sold me defective crap. First he didn't ship until 40 days after I paid, telling me some crap about his wife being in the hospital. That's fine, feel sorry for you and all that crap, but honestly if your wife is in such bad shape you should be at her side not selling on eBay, if you can't multitask, you shouldn't try. A man's got to know his limitations. All the while he's telling me to shut up and wait and holding feedback over my head.

I finally get the item and it's got a bad circuit board (burned diode and resultant board damage) so I contact him and tell him to send me another board. Now he says sorry, ship the whole unit back at my cost and he'll either repair this one or send me another. The item is a UPS that weighs 80 pounds witht he huge SLA battery, so shipping is ~$75, not a trivial amount. It's obvious this isn't shipping damage because it was shipped with the battery disconnected, and now I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place because I'm going to wind up paying almost double what I paid for the item in shipping costs.

So, I ship him back the item, he delays another few weeks, then says I'm screwed because he thinks I swapped out the board with another one and he says it's nowbeen 91 days since I paid for the item so it's past the 90 days I have to file a dispute.

I left neg fb, and he responded to my fb that he sent me the item and there was no defect and there was no dispute, and he has no idea why I left neg fb. I can't respind to that comment so I'm screwed.

So, it cost me $230 to purchase nothing but neg fb, that was the only neg fb I've ever received.

Since the seller always gets their money up front, the buyer carries all the risk in the transaction, with the buyer's only recourse being to file a dispute and get the price of the item back and still be out the shipping. I also had one clown not send me the item, and when I filed a dispute, eBay came back with "his account is closed and we have no recourse to take action". The seller was back up on eBay the next day with a different ID, so he lost nothing and had my money as pure profit.

I've never had any issues as a seller with buyer fraud because I do it just like a wrecking yard, everything I sell is marked and I take a couple pictures as I package and ship. This also helps with insurance claims, as I have proof of the item's condition when it left me.

Not related to eBay, I had a seller have an item damaged in transit, I fixed the item and opened the claim, seller got paid for the repair and never sent me the money. He got paid for an item, the shipping, and the repair, I paid for an item, shipping, and the repair.

I was thinking the exact same thing!  Not sure what happened to Customer Service.  So, not only do I need to give out my hard-earned money, but I have to thank you for selling it to me as well?  What happened to thanking ME for buying from you??  I ALWAYS leave feedback first as the seller because I am grateful for the sale.  Often times, I find I'm the first to leave feedback when buying too.  I have 100% positive feedback.  What comes around goes around, I always say.

On the other hand, Walmart has like 1000 stores and survives on good pricing, reasonable customer service, word of mouth and limited competition. If sellers didn't have feedback on ebay what's to differentiate them from the 100's of other people selling the same thing for roughly the same price. I pay a lot of attention to feedback when choosing between them. And I've never sold anything on ebay, I'm a buyer only. Advertised one thing one time and it didn't sell

Instead of feedback I like the subject of inflated shipping cost.  Example a seller in China I buy eproms from normally sells with free shipping. sometimes like right now he has what looks to be a very good deal, 2000 eproms for 2 grand, ahh but he wants $2800.00 shipping.  :wtf1- is this.  Now lets go one step futher, say I went for the deal, he could ship me a brick instead of eproms, I would open up a dispute, ebay would require me to ship him back the brick at my expense, he would refund the 2 Grand for the chips and keep the $2800.00 shipping. ( ebay rules shipping is non refundable )

Right now I have a bid  on 5 eproms and 2 simms ( incomplete poker game ) bidding started at $9.99 ( I'm the only bidder )  BUT 15 dollars shipping. Last time I checked a small flat rate box is $5.35 so where does the other $9.65 go ??   I know for boxes and packing supplies. About a week ago my post office gave me 75 flat rate boxes ( 25 of each size )  at NO cost ya know like free !!!!  Now I bet I hear the story about how he has to take the box to the PO.  BS attach $5.35 to the box and your letter Carrier will take it to the PO for you !!

How about Walmart installs a couple of buttons at each checkout stand and you rate your shopping experience that day Good or Bad.  You press bad and instantly get banned from every Walmart in the land.  OR you press good and when you get the milk home it's soured.

Buzz, That's my big bitch right now.
ebay rules have changed.
I sold an item as is and described it very well.
Packaged it to survive a nuclear bomb.
When it arrived the box got wet. No broken glass no complaints about excessive shipping just wet eproms.
He files a "Not as described complaint" after I said I would send replacement EPROMS.
Paypal refunded the cost of the item and the cost of shipping. That's their new policy.

So yes, you can buy an item "as is" then check it out and if you don't like it file a complaint and get your cost plus shipping refunded.
You just have to pay the return postage.

Buzz if you file a dispute with ebay and you return your item you get a refund for item cost and the original shipping. So whatever the seller paid for shipping he has lost too. So you both loose shipping cost both ways. ( I know this post is old)

I would like to chime in my latest dealings with eBay -

I sold an iPhone 4s for $425 - exactly 29 days after the sale I get a dispute -  the buyer claims they never received the item -

well luckily I have a wife who keeps everything  and I have the tracking number which clearly proves item was delivered.
After two weeks eBay refunded the buyer and screwed me  --   they have a policy that states any item over $250 requires SIGNATURE verification.

bottom line you must know all the rules

Actually it isn't that new, at least 2 years I can remember and it reminds you when you print the shipping label from Paypal about Signaure Confirmatin (total rip on cost too), the whole deal is set up to use eBay shipping and Paypal, if you use their tools it works. Yes it cost, No I don't like the fees, but if you adhere to the way it is supposed to be it protects you. I do know if only selling occasionally it can be hard to know, however many people will exploit this. Johnathan, you can go back and see if that phone has been activated and if by same person then burn his azz by both eBay and Paypal and possibly cops due to value, personally I wouldn't sleep until I got the prick. You can get the ESN from your old number by calling provider probably
