Title: Re: Cham 3 progressive units need information Post by: knagl on September 25, 2012, 10:47:40 AM From what I've read, the ChamIII is essentially an updated version of the ChamII, with all of the junk built on board (instead of a separate board attached to the display with cables).
I've never worked on one myself, but I believe that the programming would be the same as a ChamII+, and there are plenty of topics in this section on how to program those. You also need to tell the machine that there is a linked progressive attached to it, however chances are good that the machine has already been programmed that way unless you've cleared it. I'd start by programming the ChamIII and seeing if you get some joy from the machine before you go and start tweaking with the S2000's settings. I have the same issue with a cham2+. Was working fine, then had machine turned off for awhile, now the error. I think it just lost its memory and needs programmed. Ed Title: Re: Cham 3 progressive units need information Post by: Jim on September 26, 2012, 01:12:41 AM that's the information I am looking for. like I said in my first post, I have the power supply, the display and the Cham 3 driver logic. there are no cables going from the Cham3 driver board to the machine, there are three connections to the driver logic board, J-1 is the RS442 in, J-5 is the RS-232 in, and the last is the power connection from the power supply.
here are the part numbers for future reference if someone may need them: the display is: Cham2/3.8 cell P000020704 341-010-01ARH PGI CORP. 8 cell block 321-010-01 the CHAM3 Driver Logic is: P000020504 341-016-20A GRAND Products NV. the version chip is 2.18 this unit does not appear to be a stand alone unit, I am wanting to know what I would need to get this unit operational. would I need a CON2 interface or ???? Thanks Jim Title: Re: Cham 3 progressive units need information Post by: knagl on September 26, 2012, 01:54:13 AM Why do you feel that they're not stand-alone units? I do see where you mention that there's nothing connecting them to the machine, which is a little disconcerting.
Have you tried connecting to them via a PC and the RS-232 port to see if you can program them? Title: Re: Cham 3 progressive units need information Post by: Foster on September 30, 2012, 08:53:59 PM Here is a Cham III manual for 1.x firmware
the firmware menu options for yours may be different. Title: Re: Cham 3 progressive units need information Post by: Jim on October 02, 2012, 12:58:39 AM Foster :259-
thanks for the information, that is the display and driver board in the machines. it never stated in the manual what external units are needed to interface with the machine. all indications are a CON 2 is required, it figures that I would run into these units on my first attemt to use a progressive display. I liked the kits in the games, if I can't these running I'll re kit the machines and sell the kits.
