I like Sparky's Smokin' Hot Jackpots. They should have the dog go over to the hydrant and lift his leg during the bonus.  :96- :97- :97- :97-

They would really jazz up a home slot, that's for sure. You could put that circuit in the spin button and use colored LEDs for the rest of the buttons for a unique look.

I imagine you could solder in a flasher bulb like on christmas tree lighting? You'd just have to play around with various flasher bulbs. How many volts are going to the button lights on a S+?

6 volts.

Thanks Stat,
Maybe I'll try to simulate a flasher max bet button today for kicks.... :96-

Tri-color LED's are available with the chip inside the LED. they flash Red/Blue/green. Would make for an interesting button. Most of them run on 5 volts...

That's pretty good, however, because they normally run off of 5V, they would burn too bright and would not last too long.
We need to try to locate 6V flasher Leds.

Wouldn't something like a 100k resistor inline do enough to drop the voltage.
Put 30 pounds on that guy from AC Coin and Slot and you would have a re-run of Tommy Boy.

Of course, if you use a single multi-colored LED you would only have a light that blinks in place.  :149-  :96-

If you want to make it really interesting, why not get the lights to chase around inside the button in multi-colors? You could use four to six multi-colored LEDs (as many as you could cram under the bet max legend) on a small pcb to hold them in place and a with small circuit to drive them. You would probably need to put the actual spin switch on that pcb as well since the button would no longer be stock. Then you could have the circuit change the speed, pattern and colors of the lights, either at random or in a programmed routine. It would certainly makes the project a little more interesting...  :91- :89-  :79-

I wonder how much AC Slot paid the Player's Network for the news-advertisement story?
Did the PN pimp themselves around and film a "story" for other vendors at the show as well? Maybe they have five different stories on the best three new slots in Vegas! :5-

Hello all!

FYI - I already have a multi-colored lamp that goes from like red to green to purple to blue to white I use in my "Play Max Credits" that I bought from Autozone - it's made for a car but works great in my S2000 - see this thread for some pics - I will see if I can make a video of it.  It's look cool - but no where near as cool as the one in the video....but hey, it was only $4 bucks!  :)

Hello!

The part # is LI-194M and there is also a 480754 on my receipt.  Here's a link to their webpage http://www.autozone.com/selectedZip,53207/initialAction,accessoryProductDetail/initialR,2275633/shopping/selectZip.htm (http://www.autozone.com/selectedZip,53207/initialAction,accessoryProductDetail/initialR,2275633/shopping/selectZip.htm) - no picture though.  They were $9.99 but that is for 2.

Because these are LEDs, there are polarity things to take note of - they will only light up when the power is connected to the red side of the bulb's socket.
I really couldn't get it to change colors too well in my S+. Very dim...maybe it's because these bulbs are for DC and not for the 6VAC voltages on a S+ button panel wiring.
The power drops to 2.2VAC when the reels are spinning then bounce back up to 6.3-6.4VAC when the reels stop...
It has enough voltage to make the multicolored bulb light up only the red LED.
A small voltage rectifier may be needed to convert the 6.3VDC power output to the bulb into the form of 6VAC?
The videos posted above are from an S2000...there may be different voltages in an S2000's button panel light harness that I'm not aware of.
I was passing by an Autozone and picked up a couple...this is the packaging>>

Hello!

That's the one!  And yes this was a S2000 machine - I'm surprised they worked at all in a S+.

Yes, an IGT S+ and S2000 use different bulbs for the buttons and also have different voltages.  Both machines use a T 3-1/4 size - I believe a S2000 uses a #161 and is 12 volts and a S+ uses a#555/295 and is 6 volts.  I also had to "flip" or bend the wires to the other side on the bulb because of the polarity and the way the socket is.

Dpalmi,
I would like to ask you....are the button panel lights on a S2000 VAC or VDC?

I am positive the S2000 is DC but I thought the S+ was also DC, but that one I'm not positive on that one....

Okay,
I the readings I posted earlier are right off from my S+ with a voltage meter set on VAC.
When I set the voltage meter to VDC when trying to read the lights, I get zeros - which means the S+ button panel lights are definitely VAC voltages.
I also put a 7 colored bulb on my DC benchtop power supply.
I got the colored bulbs to light up and change colors (as they should), when 6VDC power was applied directly to the bulb.

Mark   the voltages in the S+ are vac,  7vac   #86/ #555/ #259  are 6.3 volt bulbs

S-2000  are a higher voltage,  there bulbs are #73/ #658 / #161 are 14volt bulbs

Went to JKLlamps.com website, they sell the led replacements for .75 @ piece, and have different colors   but only in the 12 volt range.

> have not purchased any so I don't know how they are.

Okay...
This is what I understand so far...

The voltages are higher in a S2000, but what is not known is whether it is AC or DC voltages. :103-

The only thing I know for sure is that the S+ uses 7VAC for the button panel lights, and the colored LED bulb wont work properly unless I can somehow boost it's button light voltages perhaps by jumping and adding some power from the nearby/unused shadow light box harness? :103-

I gotta do some digging around... :79-

You could use a relay.
You use the button voltage to turn on the relay which then switches on voltage from another source. Even a external power adapter would work. It would have to come from the slot.

You are right Jay,
Because drawing VAC power from the shadow box harness will not not work....
it's continuous power would keep the red LED light "ON" on the button's LED light.
I had wanted to put this 7 colored LED in the MAX button light.
The MAX button is already using a relay for when I want to play the "auto-play" switch/relay I have there.
But using a small relay similar to the "auto-play" relay,  and drawing 6VDC from another source - would definitely work!
That MAX button is really getting a workout... :96-

Well, I got a pack of those leds and as Dan #2 said you have to reverse the polarity of the contacts. It looks pretty darn good, but you can notice the led focus on the back of the legend in some of the color modes. If I remember correctly, according to another member here, name escapes me (CRS) this focus may cause a problem with the legend plastic that may include starring and melting? Will have to keep an eye on it or maybe figure out a diffusing item between led and legend. K+ to Dan #2.
