Well I'll try and get something started here for ya.
No expert here by any means. I'm just putting out some ideas of my past expierence with my E1000 & E2000.

Could be a power  problem?

Bad connections on MPU or power supply?

Battery on the MPU?

The power supply?

Maybe a fuse holder is failing internally?

Do you have the service manual for the e-series machines? Check there if you do

Mem test fail, check all plugs and chips, make sure they are seated...  Swap a cards with a know good, if you have...

I've had random codes, like 9 before, and just pulling the plugs off and reseating them seems to cleanup and possible light corrosion on the contacts that might cause intermittent codes/failures.

Power supply plug, slide it on and off a few times, seems to clear some strange problems.
