Title: Can't perform a Safe Ram clear after replacing low battery?
Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on October 24, 2012, 07:41:37 PM
I had a Bally 6000 In The Money machine that had a low battery after having a 88FF. I replaced the old battery and it was indeed dead with a remote battery holder and (3) 1.2 V rechargeable batteries and soldered ti to the board. I installed my daferam clear chips at U28 and U43 and when I powered it up and held down the psuedo and test buttons, I got a 83F code and it would not clear. Did I miss a step on this somewhere?

Thanks,

David

check if your Battery is Enable:
The Lithium battery may be disabled for shipping or storage. To enable the battery, locate jumper JW20
left of the battery and place the jumper across the two pins.

the jumper is on the 2 pins of JW20, is there a way to check the battery voltage on the board other than just the two leads on the battery holder?

When you installed the chips and held the buttons and turned on machine, did do the clear, display the CL C with buttons flashing then display the 83F, or did it immediatly go to the 83F when turning on?

Immediate after turning the game on with both buttons pressed.

Push on the two buttons hard enough to make your fingers hurt, then turn on the power.

This is very true...but the 83F should not show up

Do your mains support the ticket printer?

David,

83F is an issue with your safe ram chips. If you have another pair I would try them. I've had them go bad for no reason.

David,

One more thing to think about. Do your 3 1.2V batteries give you the 600 ma you need.

not exactly sure, can you tell me how to check?

Thanks,

David

If you have a vtvm (volt meter) that has a milliamp setting, set to a higher scale then 600 ma and just touch the probes to the ends of the batts and see if the needle bounces up past 600. I'm old school, don't like digital, but they will work for this.

Will be listed on the battery specs. volts @ so many mA. But fresh batteries should still get the job done when new. I thing we have a version issue between the mains and clears as David told me they do not support the printer. There are many versions of mains and some require the casino back end server to support the printer and there are clears that match. David I will send you a matching set of mains and clears to try and see if that cures your issue.

Buzz, I hope he listened to me when he first asked about the battery pack and rechargable batteries. I told him that MOST rechargables are 1.2 volts but to make sure, and I think he did.but very god point again as over voltage will cause issues as well.

He typed faster than this old man.....

Just performed a safe ram clear and installed the new main that Coors sent to me. I powered the game up, set date and time but when I hit the change button to confirm changes and exit, I got a 91FF. What dies that mean and how can I solve it?

Thanks,

David

91 is a comm error. there must be a progressive setup in the machine

There is not a progressive set up on this machine, is there something else I can check, possibly the dip switches?

Try this    http://slot-tech.com/interesting_stuff/bally/Bally%20S6000/ Start with #2 in the list. It's not the best but it has dip switch info. also check all the settings in "11d" menu. 02 should be "0000" if no progressive .

I can't get to 11d because when I try to confirm my time and date settings by pressing the change button, it goes to 91FF

I must be loosing my touch. I didn't ask the most important questions.

1. what machine is this?
2. did it ever work for you?
3. can you post a pic?

My reason is that 91FF is not a 6000 error. 91 with other numbers and or letters is but not FF.

I don't know if or why this may have had something to do with the problem but the door switch/optic was not working correctly. Basically it would not show that the door was open until I pulled the plug from the door optic on the cabinet side. I was able to get it to save the time and date and get into the set up at the 11d point.

Thanks to Coors for sending me the new mains and safe ram clear chips, if i knew how to send Karma I would. Many thanks to all the other forum members that educate me on these machines as well.
