Here is a simple way of identifying possible payout issues with your reel mechanism - all is needed is a multimeter with continuity (audible alarm is best) and a wire diagram.
Since the reel mechanism "feeds" payout info to the payout unit - this assembly should be checked to see if the reel wipers - wiper board - and reel strips are in alignment.
This procedure is done with the reel mechanism out of the cabinet. You need to make note of where the PAY LINE is in relationship to the reel glass.
The "circuit" for the reel mechanism is the GREY (90) wire and the various payout circuits (Red/yellow -- 13 wire) usually being the 2 payout.
Find the 90 and 13 wires on the male beauplug - attach your mutlimeter leads to those points - rotate the reels until you have 1 cherry on the left most position only - if a good circuit you will get the alarm.
Do all the payouts in this manner - remember some machines are right to left - so you will have to check that also.
Once you have verified each payout is correct - you can then "chase" the payout circuit to the payout unit - since you now know which male plug contact is for (13 = 2 pay) - check the female counterpart to the payout units 2 pay - either to the hopper beauplug or to the payout unit molex if payout unit is a seperate unit.   
Of course there are other issues that impact payouts working - but this narrows down the main circuits.

Looks faultless to me.  Also, some multi-liine machines have a grey/red (91), and other greys (93?)for their lines, so don't forget that.
And, multi-line machines sometimes have split reel wipers, where they are sectioned off or isolated from the other lines, but they all get to the payboard eventually.
If you don't have a schematic, you can often find the pay color ON the hopper board going to each paytab.  Just jot down beforehand what they are, and then you can easily find them on your reel mech.
And one last thing, to verify point to point a questionable pay circuit, you can set the pay, clip on the 90 wire, slide the mech back in, and check that pay TO the hopper plug itself.  You can often find the 90 wire on one of your handle release switches if you would rather clip there.   
This keeps you from having to pull out and inspect the female Beau plugs, which is not a good thing to do repeatedly, if ever.  
Of course, power off when checking continuity.... Just my 2 cents.
