Title: Mikohn display scrambled please help Post by: Koni on February 24, 2009, 05:10:30 PM I have a mikohn/sigma Yahtzee machine. The display on the top box when I boot up is scrambled with upside down numbers and letters. Then it shows a C3 then quickly shows a C with a backward 6. Does anyone know what this could be and how to solve? Thanks for your help. Koni
Title: Re: Mikohn display scrambled please help Post by: stayouttadabunker on February 24, 2009, 05:32:18 PM Koni,
did you , by any chance, try to change the display settings at all? The reason I ask you this is because the display error code "C3" could be a number of things... From the manual>>>> Mikohn error codes (pre-1998) "C3" Verify error on data written to RAM on LED logic. Jackfile to long?" That means someone tried to change the message in the jackdo files but entered it incorrectly. Let us know if your mikohn is newer than 1998...if it is, than the controller error code message is a little different. The error code after 1998 for the "C3" is this: "Slave controller does not detect master controller. Improper switch setting on controller?" Now that code only applies to when you have more than one controller... It's gets more complicated....if you have a CHAM2+ display, than the "C3" error code means this: "C3" = Test pattern written to RAM on logic when read back has been corrupted" We need more details of which Mikohn controller you have, how many, the settings on it and what kind of Mikohn displays you are getting this error code from....it's the only way we can help you.... It's sort of like...."I need some tires for my Ford" and the guy at the counter sells you giant, knobby tractor tires for your Pinto....there are both Fords, but very, very different. :96- Look inside and get all the numbers you can off of it and maybe post a couple of good claer pictures as well... Title: Re: Mikohn display scrambled please help Post by: Koni on February 24, 2009, 06:33:15 PM I did scroll through the test settings and they are also scrambled. I have not tried to change the settings because I have no idea how too. The c3 error comes up sometimes when I power up, not always??? Thanks- Koni
Title: Re: Mikohn display scrambled please help Post by: stayouttadabunker on February 24, 2009, 06:41:12 PM I never seen the display show letters and numbers backward and upside down...something is seriously wrong there...
It's like the display is turned inside out! I'm hoping one of our members that has a working cham2+ can elaborate more on this! I believe IDESIGN has that kind of Mikohn system set up... Title: Re: Mikohn display scrambled please help Post by: Koni on February 24, 2009, 06:45:34 PM Is it possible to clear or reset the board? If so how do you do it?- Koni

Yes I got the yahtzee machine running and I would be happy to help you. What exactly is the machine doing from the power up, and what were you doing with the machine when the problem happened? Also what have you done so far to correct the problem? The more info you give me about what the machine is doing the better. It relies on a CON2 to drive it. The photo of the back of the display is too blurry to tell but it looks like is 4" tall, not 2".
Did that CHAMII come with the machine? Title: Re: Mikohn display scrambled please help Post by: knagl on September 24, 2011, 06:27:50 PM Koni-
Would you mind posting here how you got your "backwards" display working properly again for the benefit of someone in the future who may run into the issue that you were able to resolve? Thanks in advance! :89- Title: Re: Mikohn display scrambled please help Post by: Koni on September 24, 2011, 06:37:17 PM Sorry Folks,
I did not mention how I fixed the problem. It ended up being the board attached to the power supply on the right side of the cabinet. The board was wrong and did not even have the "Yahtzee chips" in it. Easy fix, just wish I checked the board and chips first. Amazing how I sometimes overlook the obvious. Thanks to all,- Koni Title: Re: Mikohn display scrambled please help Post by: idesign on September 24, 2011, 06:48:52 PM I am totally puzzled by all this. I sure would like to know too.
The display is now working properly? Title: Re: Mikohn display scrambled please help Post by: Koni on September 24, 2011, 07:06:05 PM Yes, the display is working now. The machine runs perfect. The machine was not working when I bought it. The wrong board was in the machine, I think someone was trying to make the display say something custom :103- and installed a different board. The board attached to the power supply on the right side controlls the display. When I installed the correct board the machine booted up and runs perfect. Sorry for the confusion folks. :279- -Koni

Can you post a picture of that board? It might help someone else out. I had to move all my machines so I will try to remember to post a pic of the correct board. Good news is it is a great excuse to remodel. :3-
