Title: Any info on this Summit slot?
Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on November 13, 2012, 01:52:33 AM
Looking to get this machine up and running, just shows 2 dashes on the display, can pull handle and reels spin, but will not stop.

Thanks

Good luck... Those old Summit machines have big problems with the boards and power supplys, and finding good working parts are not cheap.. I had one 2 years ago and ended up scraping it and sold the boards.. I won't ever buy one again, but thats just my opinion... :81- :60-

with it showing 2 dashes and it will spin, will that at least rule the power supply?

This is the only place that I could find info or parts for the Summit.
I had one too and scrapped it out.

It's possible, but the boards under the reels are expensive to repair. I was shocked at the prices on there sight. That's why I scraped my machine.

We have used this place/guy before for board repair and he does know his way around a Summit!  :89- He will also do a 30 minute (I think) phone consult to help troubleshoot, but you have to pay in advance or he won't talk to you.  :60-

I liked them, they were kinda fun. The power supplies were cute.
The boards were through-hole, so are mostly repairable if you hunt around for components.
I would guess most of the stuff is still available except for the programmed proms....
That's cool that the folks at the link (above) can still repair them, so don't just take your old machine to the dump.
