Title: Simm Sockets On Main Board - What are they for?
Post by: TheChad on November 13, 2012, 01:23:57 PM
Hey all,

I have an S2000, The Model of the board is: 1952-0, there are 2 simm sockets on the main board,  I have not read anything here about these simm sockets,  So I'm curious what they are for?

I am thinking maybe a Vision game/system?

Thanks,

-TheChad

It's been discussed before and as far as the board was concerned last time the intention might have been memory expansion ports or some such thing, but IGT didn't ever seem to find a reason to actually use them

Hmm,  I wonder what would happen if I put a couple of RAM SIMM's In there?

I use to run an IT Business, so I have some SIMM's laying around here some where that obviously will never have another use...

They are not regular memory slots so don't do it.

They never used it and the software on the board does not know anything about it.   The only thing you can do is ruin your board by trying it out.

I know one use for them. There is a simm that fits this slot and has 2 eprom slots on it.  Jurisdiction chips go in it. Some kind of expansion for jurisdiction related purposes I guess.  I acquired one at  one point in time.
I never installed it and threw in a box which is who knows where.
