Title: IGT S+ Double Diamond Will Not Go Into Test Mode
Post by: Sherrie on November 19, 2012, 08:56:09 AM
On an IGT S+ Double Diamond machine when powered on the Bill Validator powers up fine but the lights will not come on and it will not even try to accept bills, when a coin is inserted in the coin slot it just falls through and will not register and when the test mode button is pushed it will not go into test mode; absolutely no numbers show up in any of the LED displays.  The machine was fully functionable until this happened.  I ruled out the power supply since the BV powered up.  Could this be a blown fuse or the MB battery is bad?  No error codes ever showed up before this happened.
Thank you,
Sherrie

When the machine has power, do the reels feel "stiff" or difficult to turn?  Compare them to how they feel when the machine is turned off.  If the reels feel the same when you try to turn them no matter if the machine is off or on, then your MPU is not getting power.

Check the power connector behind the hopper to the motherboard from the power supply. They heatup and burn the connector you will see a dark burn mark most of the time on the molex connector. Clean and tighten the connector and you will be fine.

To add to coorslight115 the plug burn is usually on the back side so you have to pull it and turn it around.

I added the picture to my earlier response.

The reels move freely both on and off.  The slot machine is not at my house so I will check tomorrow to see if that plug is burnt.  But if the reels moving freely means the MPU is not getting power, please let me know if that is a different power source than shown in the photo so then I'll check everything at once.  So do I rule out blown fuses or bad MB battery?
Thank you,
Sherrie

If it was working fine and just stopped one day....99% chance it is that plug..happens a lot  !
