Title: double diamond problem Post by: greghig on November 26, 2012, 04:03:34 PM Trying to repair an IGT DD. No power, burnt connector (common), comes on now but still acted strange. Did a reset using the (reset chip) which requires pressing the white reset button to activate it. All expected numbers poped up with no errors. When I replace the orginal ROM chip and boot I get the error "60" which is normal. The problem I have is the white reset button does not work now, so I cant get it to 60-1. The button is ok cause it allowes me to do a reset with the reset chip plugged in. But I cant get past the 60 error. It just acts like the reset button is not there (with the ROM chip). Battery is good. No DBA. Has anybody seen this or have any ideas?

Are you getting an error 60, or 61? 61 is normal -- I have no idea what 60 might be telling you. One more interesting tidbit, when I turned it on today to verify the error number I got hit with the error 12. Replaced the battery and now im back to 61 again. If I turn the 'reset key", I can go through the last played figures so its not locked up, Just cant get the reset button to work to get to the 61-1. Once again, the reset button DOES work when using the reset chip, so its not the button. Very fustrateing.

You may be stuck in a "61 loop" which will require the use of an IVC123 clear chip. Is that the chip you've been using? Try it again now that you've gotten the error 12 to go away.
Title: Re: double diamond problem Post by: greghig on December 04, 2012, 04:18:22 AM Got it resolved. Youre not going to believe what it was. My bench (like many benches) is well lit. What was happening was with the door open, the bright lights were triggering the door photocell. Making it think the door was still closed, (thereby disableing the reset switch). Simply turning off the lights in the room did the trick. Thought I would post this as it took two weeks to figure it out and might by chance help somebody out.
