Title: Last of my current 3 problem children Post by: MikeCamp on November 27, 2012, 01:14:26 PM I may have posted this on here before but cannot remember since I did have three machines with issues. I have a Triple Red Hot 7s machine that continues to toss out the same error. Buttons on the deck do not work and is showing a Call Attendant, Closure M and Coin-In Jam error. I've tried swapping various parts with no luck, swapped the MPU into a known good working machine and after clearing the normal errors when swapping boards around I ended up with the same set of errors in the known good cabinet. so the issue does appear to follow the MPU board. I did try tossing in a clear chip and set chip but since the deck buttons are not working makes it kinda hard to go thru the process. I hate to always blame everything on the MPU board but that the issue with my last machine, so kinda leaning that way with this one as well.
I purchased the game in this condition so I have never seen it work and either something was tossed together for a quick sell as a fixer upper or as many of you have pointed out, someone has been tinkering that does not have a clue (oh wait that could be me :) Anyway, the machine has backlit reels that do not appear to have the backlit controller board or wiring harness (as best as I can tell). Sometimes the lights are on on the deck buttons, sometimes they are off but they never work. Here are some of the specs. 502 MPU board (I think, have included a picture) , SB100010, SG000523 (1 and 2), VS011GX1. I really hate to start ripping chips of my other board like this and doing the old substitution because being so new at this and even having a chip puller I hate pulling and replacing these chips. Could it be a battery issue, is this even the correct board for this game? Can the batteries be tested while on the board? I guess I'd rather swap a couple 8 dollar batteries before I started ordering new boards. What do the experts think? And I do mean that will all sincerity :) Mike Title: Re: Last of my current 3 problem children Post by: BR549 Auto Sales on November 27, 2012, 01:37:16 PM You could possibly have a bad I/O board, there is one on the right side of the MPU and there is one on the inside of the door. I had the same problem with one of my machines and it was the I/O board. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure if they use that chip for the "Triple Red Hot 7s" ...I wonder if it's a good match for your SG000523's? You'd have to get A PSR sheet for the SG000523's to see if it is compatible with your SB100010 for starters. Wouldn't swapping the MPU to the other known good cabinet with good I/O boards eliminate I/O boards as the issue since I experienced the same set of errors in the known good cabinet? Title: Re: Last of my current 3 problem children Post by: stayouttadabunker on November 27, 2012, 02:25:07 PM I'll bet you if you stick in a pair of SG000363's, the deck buttons will work...
However, I'm only guessing that your SB chip is incorrect. Title: Re: Last of my current 3 problem children Post by: MikeCamp on November 27, 2012, 03:41:26 PM Ok, went to IGT site and found out for the 3 reel, 1 line , 2 coin the SB chip I have is valid, so now just need to see if the two SG chips are the wrong ones and if the ones I have handy will substitute for them. I have some SG000362s.

If you need 363s, I have some. I don't want to start tracking them down only to get the wrong ones and have to start the process over again. Seems like if I order parts they either come from the West Coast or the East Coast so a mistake will take me several days longer to recover from. Since I'm not selling these machines I building them for my own pleasure then guess waiting a few more days won't really hurt but on the other hand, I'm getting older....
Thanks in advance, Mike Title: Re: Last of my current 3 problem children Post by: CVslots on November 28, 2012, 01:30:03 AM Use 363s...just ask Buzz...
Title: Re: Last of my current 3 problem children Post by: MikeCamp on December 10, 2012, 02:00:01 PM Well problem child number three is now gobbling up money likes its other siblings. Got a different board in and it kept having low main battery errors so fortunately I had ordered yet another board so was able to move the chips to the third board and she is up and running. Purchased a backlit reel kit that should be here today then only a couple more cosmetic issues and will be done. If my local contact here in town does not have a belly glass and bezel then off to the classifieds I go.
As an experiment while trying to get this thing up I also figured out the multi-denom thing as well as how to change the verbiage on the printer tickets so I'm finally feeling a little more comfy working on the S2000s. Took one of my old S-Plus's over to my parents house now they are enjoying that little jewel so good times are being had by all. Thanks again for everyones help/suggestions here, could not have gotten this far without y'all. Mike |
