Title: Adding Back Lit Reels Post by: hotrod777 on November 27, 2012, 08:21:48 PM After reading the thread about coloring/paining the back of the reel strips, I am ready to try this. Double Gold S2000
If I would buy the kit via eBay, is it plug and play? - Is a set or clear chip need to turn the feature on? - My strips are gold backs, can I still color them? - Any other info I need? Thanks as always Title: Re: Adding Back Lit Reels Post by: Yoeddy1 on November 27, 2012, 08:49:27 PM Hmmm...before painting these, I would install the backlit kit first and see what the gold backed Double Gold strips look like as-is on backlit reels. The painting isn't a quick project. I did it meticulously on my RW&B kit and it was a good 2-3 hours.

Not sure what you mean about "plug n play". are you referring to the game kit itself or the backlit reels? If you don't have light bulbs on your reel baskets now, you will not have backlit reels after installing a different game/set of strips. You need to buy a backlit reel conversion kit and install the new reel baskets and reel control board. Save yourself the headache and buy a Clear and Key chip. Most of the time, will need a Clear and a Key to change games. Some have done it without, but if you own an S2000, you will, sometime, in the future need a Clear and Key chip. Not worth waiting on a set when you absolutely need them...not for $20. Title: Re: Adding Back Lit Reels Post by: hotrod777 on November 27, 2012, 09:30:23 PM As far as Plug and Play: The game is up and running as-is.
I was going to buy the kit that has: 3- backlit reels controller harnesses If I install those, does the backlit reels work? (minus the issue of coloring the strips) Title: Re: Adding Back Lit Reels Post by: hotrod777 on November 27, 2012, 09:31:33 PM This Kit:

As I remember, I did not have to clear the machine. During start up it recognizes the new hardware during "Netplex Configuring" Title: Re: Adding Back Lit Reels Post by: stormrider on November 28, 2012, 01:18:41 AM I purchased two of those kits from Roger. Not sure if those strips will light up with the gold backing but for the price that's a good deal for a complete backlit reel kit. Tim Title: Re: Adding Back Lit Reels Post by: CVslots on November 28, 2012, 01:21:44 AM Yah, it's a decent deal. We sell the kits for $70 with Free Shipping (and shipping has never cost us below $15).

For that price it can't hurt even if the strips prove to be an issue. Hopefully the machine will recognize them as you mentioned above. :244- Title: Re: Adding Back Lit Reels Post by: stormrider on November 28, 2012, 01:29:17 AM Yah, it's a decent deal.
