Title: Universal Fire Bird Pokie not working Post by: NZRick on December 17, 2012, 06:03:17 AM Hello there,
I am new to the site and have acquired a Universal machine just about identical to Pokienut's as posted in the Universal AUS section.just getting the hang of the site so still a little nonplussed in a few areas It's a Pacific Fire bird. The machine basically doesn't function save the lights and now the error LEDS which didn't work until I replaced a few lost 12 V caps. the speaker gives off a constant hum which can be increased bv way of the volume control. I have removed the main PSU and there is a separate A/C adapter wired into the transformer which mounted on the bottom of the case it is rated at 230V-50Hz input and 14V- 2.8A 40VA. While I have not had much meaningful experience restoring electronic machine I have never seen this arrangement in a pokie machine before. The PSU is different than the ones that appear elsewhere on this site in the tech section this info was posted by Uniman a general piece of advice was to remove the noise filter located in the PSU however the PSU in this machine is different and the noise filter is mounted directly on the PSU PCB so there are no wires to butt end or connect to complete the circuit. My question is if I were to desolder and remove the noise filter what means would I use to complete the connection that were provided by the filter? The machine lacks it's hopper and there are a few other problems however at least getting things under way is better than nothing I have attached two pics of the PSU I of course would be extremely grateful for any assistance and enlightenment any one of you gents could lend here. I thank you so very much for all Wishing you all the finest of holidays with those you love Cheers mates!
