Title: GQ-4X Adapter for m27c4002
Post by: teamclark4 on December 27, 2012, 03:12:01 PM
So i got my Willem GQ-4X with the 40 pin socket; and now have determined i also need the *&$((##*(&* adapter for it to work with the m27c4002 40 pin SB game chips  :30- :279-

Which of course, the adapter is not in stock but back ordered..

Anyway, when i read a 40 pin SB chip; it seems like it is properly reading it.. It takes about 4 seconds, i can see the reading percentage go from 0% to 100%.. I can click on the "code" part and there is code there. If i save it as a bin file it is about 512k in size.

It definately doesn't seem to want to let me write that bin to a blank 40 pin m27c4002 chip (says i need the adapter)..

But my question is this:  Does anyone know for sure if you read the chip, and save it, that it really is a good "read" and is usable ?

If it is, then i can read a bunch of my 40 pin sb chips and get all that saved off while i'm waiting for the adapter to come.. If not then that would just be a waste of time if i have to redo the "read" again if it requires the adapter.

Thanks for any feedback.

I know you have these three chips and the correct check sum for each is  SB100927 (1DC1)  Key 31  ((060D)   clear 97  (22E9)

I would think if your reading the chips and it's saving the files with these check sums your OK     Life is a bitch when you can't play with your Christmas toy until after New Years isn't it !!

You got that right; i need the "pulling the hair out of your head" icon...

When i read the clear chip as an example; at the bottom of the programming interface it says checksum: 07F80000 as it's reading it; then once it's read it changes to 0584973F.. The key chip does the same thing 07F80000 then after it reads it : 0578C994 ...

Well it sounds like i'm waiting then for the adapter.

What is the size of the bin file for your keychip ? when i read and save it mine is the 512k size; if your's is different then that would definately prove it's not reading properly.

Nope that doesn't prove anything, every bin file I have that goes into a M27C4002 eprom has 512KB (524,288 bites)  The few I looked at SB, clear, key chips their all the same.
