Title: How hard is it to get the DBV sticker off? Post by: genebopp on January 07, 2013, 12:43:49 PM I have a machine with the "this machine accepts...." Sticker above the belly door. The sticker is in perfect condition, but I would like to take the sticker off. I am afraid that it will break and make a mess. Is it held on with contact cement or is just normal sticker type stuff?

I use a hair dryer to peel it then some acetone or whatever to remove the leftover glue. Be careful not to use any kind of tool that will mar the surface when removing it. I use plastic scrappers where needed. And plan on it taking a little while, I think mine took me around an hour each

The plastic sign came right off in about 2 minutes..... Then I realized the glue strip stayed on the machine and only pealed neatly off the placard. About and hour and a whole bottle of acetone later the sign is gone. Thanks for your help.

The wood doesn't scratch the steel as I pushed the softened glue off. Painstaking no matter what you use...you just gotta be patient and take your time. Agreed with this -- lacquer thinner is fantastic for cleaning the metal on slots and getting rid of stubborn goo. Just use it in a well-ventilated area! :127- Title: Re: How hard is it to get the DBV sticker off? Post by: morspeed on January 09, 2013, 06:14:20 PM You can use a razor blade if you do it right. I have done all mine at one point or another for different things like adding led barcrest emblems. You run the razor blade at a tight angle to the door horizontally so you don't scratch. Cuts off most of the adhesive then come back over with goo gone. Maybe 15 to 20 min process this way. That door finish is a lot tougher than you think.
