Title: FIXED: Game King , locating base chip
Post by: roboto on January 08, 2013, 11:55:57 PM
I have a game king bar top video poker machine . I would like to change the denomination and games . There seems to be only one circuit board and its mounted under the lcd monitor . The key 22 chip that I have does not fit into any of the sockets on this circuit board.  Isnt there suppose to be a motherboard and a MPU board ? The largest chip has only 16pins ? Could this be the base chip ? Which key chip do I need to set the games ? Does any one have experience with the IGT bar tops ?

I have posted a dozen pictures under my profile; for those familiar with the GK bartops.

Hi Roboto!! The mpu is the main board with the game & base chips on it & the motherboard is the board that the back of the mpu plugs into. You will have to remove the base chip, install the key chip where the base was, power up and follow on screen instructions.
Post a few pics of your machine including a pic of the mpu and we'll be able to help more! Good luck!!

On the GK bartop I've seen, the MPU board/tray is on the floor of the machine. Remove the belly door to access it.

The pictures you have added to your initial post are of your touchscreen's circuit board. Don't touch that at all.

As I stated in my previous post, the MPU board is located in the base of the machine, by your feet. You must remove the belly door (lift up on that white knob next to the speaker to release it, then pull the belly door towards you) to access it. Make sure to always have the power OFF when removing or inserting the MPU board.

Look some more...you have not found the mpu yet.. Get a little lower in the unit like at the bottom. It will be in a slide out tray about 15" wide with a handle and pretty leds on it.

thank you all. found the actual Mobo and MPU last light .
i pulled up the white plunger release next to the speaker and the belly door opened !
removal of the belly door, Mobo, base chip, etc was pretty painless .
once i clean up my machine i'll post a youtube video for others .
now i have to figure why my bill stacker is so fickle . I will start another thread .
