Title: Bally 6000 coin acceptor problem Post by: jer3270 on January 20, 2013, 04:09:12 PM Hi, recently a friend wanted me to put a coin comparitor in his 6000. Ok, I thought no big deal. Ordered the parts from raz410 :131- :131- put the comparitor in,cleared machine with chips, made sure coin button on the board was in the correct position, went through 11d menu made sure comparitor option reset to 0001 and I should be set. NOT!!! I do not get a light on the comparitor. Coins just fall through to hopper??? I got another comparitor from raz410 ( thanks again!!) and the same results!! For kicks , I cleared machine again, went and changed the option to 0000 and the coins just fall through to the coin tray. Bill acceptor works just fine, game plays great. Put a coin in and nothing!! If anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks again, you guys are awesome!!!! :244- :244- :244-

You did put the same coin in the com comparitor ( the one that stays thjere). Then next. Small switch on front of mpu must be up. Next possible bad coin optic board or chip.

Title: Re: Bally 6000 coin acceptor problem Post by: jer3270 on January 20, 2013, 07:02:49 PM Thanks for the replies! Switch on the board is up. I don't have any other ballys machines to swap parts with. Can I use the optic board out of a S2000 or is that a big no no?? I know there's different voltages for the comparitors, I don't know about the optics. Thanks.

Title: Re: Bally 6000 coin acceptor problem Post by: Mr. Dinoman on January 21, 2013, 01:41:02 PM I found that a lot of machines out there were set up for large tokens or coins...Make sure the optic block is made for the size coin you are using....If the coin drops though the optics and does not block them, it will not register the coin...You can check the optics by pushing the little white button...If you get a credit, most likely your optics are good...Also check that the optic holes are not clogged-I have had spider webs on some...Hope these ideas help...

I just reread the original post and saw that he said the coins drop into the hopper. I had missed that. I think you're on the money, oversize optic block.Jimmy W Title: Re: Bally 6000 coin acceptor problem Post by: jer3270 on January 21, 2013, 08:25:00 PM Thanks for the help guys!!! Can I swap out the optics out of my igt or are they different voltages like the comparator ?? Thanks again!! No, they won't work. You need to check the coin optic block that is behind the optic board. if it is too wide to force the coin to block the optics, you need to either shim it or replace it. pictures attachedW (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=22120.0;attach=53760) (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=22120.0;attach=53717) (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=22120.0;attach=53719) Title: Re: Bally 6000 coin acceptor problem Post by: jer3270 on January 21, 2013, 08:48:34 PM Okay, thanks again for the help and the pictures!!! I'm going to get to work on it and I'll let you guys know!!!
Title: Re: Bally 6000 coin acceptor problem Post by: jer3270 on January 21, 2013, 10:26:49 PM Took the block apart and there was a little clearance. So I shimmed it to where a quarter just fit and still nothing. Then I took one screw out of the optic board and started taking the other out while machine was on and the yellow led started to flicker. I moved it around a little and could get it to go solid and it gave me a code 20 then a code 24. I put everything back together and cleared the machine and still no results. With that being said. Any other idea's?? Thanks again for all the help!!!
Title: Re: Bally 6000 coin acceptor problem Post by: Mr. Dinoman on January 21, 2013, 10:49:38 PM Those are coin in and coin reverse errors...When you put it all back together are you still getting those errors?...Sounds like the optics board has a cold solder joint or the connector wiring my be loose...FYI, whenever working on these machines, it is best to have the power off...It is easy to short something out...
Title: Re: Bally 6000 coin acceptor problem Post by: jer3270 on January 21, 2013, 11:14:47 PM Hi, I was just trying to get it to do anything!! Yes, always have it powered off. No, all errors cleared after putting it together, it just doesn't register the coin. I looked at the board and wires. Can't find any shorts or burns. I'll check it out again tomorrow. Thanks for the help!!
Title: Re: Bally 6000 coin acceptor problem Post by: paul on January 22, 2013, 12:05:46 AM WHen you turn on machine your amber lite on optic block should come on i think this is where your problem is the compairitor sees the coin and sends it to hopper by way of optic block and optic is not seeing it try another optic block
