Title: How to clear Hopper Empty message on IGT Game King
Post by: Mojomoe on January 22, 2013, 04:12:13 AM
Hello ,  I went through all 13 pages of the archived posts in hopes of finding my answer, but no luck.    I think it's a basic question,  but after frying some chips in the past,  I learned the hard way to do the homework first.

I have been playing Black Jack my Game King until I accedently hit the "cash out" button...  :25-   I tried going into the menu to clear it, but no luck, and so I need some help with how to clear it.    I have the clear Chip 17 and 22,  but looking for a sanity check & confirmation on how to clear it.  :99-

Also, is there a way to disable the "cash out" button so this doesn't happen again?  :103-

Picture of message also included.

Thanks in advance  :131-

Moe

Yes,  good point Jason.  I forgot to mention that after I open the door and close it agian, the Hopper spins for about 12 seconds and since I have no coins in it, then it displays the message on the screen.    I guess I can try to put some coins in it...if I knew what denomiation of coins the hopper is set up for.

Thanks for your response,

Moe

Moe-

At the point you're at now, your best bet is to a) figure out what denomination the hopper is -- the coin entry on the machine should be a good hint, and then b) load up a hundred or two of those coins and let the 1,004 credits pay out (just keep recycling the coins until they've all paid out).

Once you have zero credits on the machine, you can make adjustments in the setup menus to prevent the hopper from trying to pay out any win over, say, ten credits.  With that configuration, if you press Cash Out with 100 credits on the machine, it will just go to a hand pay mode and you can "pay" the credits due by turning the jackpot reset key.

The only other option you have at the present juncture is to use one of your keychips to clear the RAM of the machine.  That will wipe out the credits, but it will also wipe out all of your game and denomination setup, and you'll have to re-configure everything again before you'll be able to use the machine.  Unless you're well-versed with that, the easier solution would be to just let the hopper pay out the coins it's trying to pay out.

Thanks for the advice Knagl !!!   I appreciate it and will follow your advice.   My challenge is that I got the game without a coin mech and the coin slot has a cover for TITO mode, but I will pull the hopper and I am sure I will be able to figure it out.

Many Thanks agian!   :131- :131- :131-

Hi, I had the same problem with my game king when I first got it before I got my key chip to set it up. Was playing and hit cash out by mistake and got coin out error (no hopper) so I had to shut off machine pull mpu and swap the two memory chips and them clear normal errors that come up and everything was still the same as it was before I hit cash out and was back playing again.

Thank you Cartman765 for your response.  I will keep this in mind if the filling the hopper with coins doesn't resolve it.

Just to clarify, the hopper size doesn't matter to the machine, only to the hopper.  So, if the hopper plate can grab and hold a quarter and successfully pass that through the optic, then you can fill the hopper with quarters.  If a quarter is too large, then you can try a nickel.  As far as the machine knows, every coin that comes out of the hopper will register as a coin out.  As Knagl wrote, the machine just wants the hopper to spit out 1001 coins, but doesn't care what kind of coin.

The only time the denomination comes into play is if you had $1001.00 dollars on the machine instead of 1001 coins.  Then, if the machine is set to a penny denomination, it will want the hopper to spit out 100,100 coins (yikes) whereas if the machine is set to a $5 denomination, it will want the hopper to deliver 200 coins.

By the way, if you want to know what denomination the machine thinks the hopper is, it's the lowest denomination available on your game selection screen.  If you have 1 cent as a choice, then the machine will treat the hopper like a one-cent hopper, even if it hold quarters.

Hope I didn't confuse things.

Oh, and I forgot to address your second question - is there a way to disable the cashout button.  There is as Knagl pointed out.  You can either lower the hopper limit or disable it altogether.  To lower the limit, press the White Test button inside and then touch the Setup-->Machine Options-->Bill/Coin Acceptor-->Bill/Coin Limits.
