Title: IGT S2000 Barcrest Top Dollar Dot matrix
Post by: keystone9 on January 26, 2013, 12:19:04 PM
Why do I feel I am missing a cable to the top box dot matrix display? On this game that I have there is only one 10 pin connector ( 7 pins used) going to the back of the dot matrix display from the netplex board. I am still thinking there should be another communication cable. Am I wrong? Bill

Sorry Bill, I can't help you with these. I know there are Barcrest guys on here that should be able to help you. (If they get out of bed.)

Did it work before or is this the way you got it? I have 3 Barcrest machines and all have two cables plugged into the bonus round backplane with other unused plugs on the board

To clarify though, none of mine are Top Dollar. One plug appears to be a power supply and the other, like your ten pin, would be the netplex plug

Tollguy to the rescue....  Mine is a Double Top Dollar.  I had a similar issue when I got mine... Move the 4 pin molex connector to the lower connection ( look closely at my 2nd pic)      Bill

His doesn't have the white molex power plug that yours does

I should say doesn't "appear" to have that plug. Picture is a little fuzzy and blocks the other white plug above the one your power is plugged into

Hey Cowboy.... the 4white 4 pin molex will fit in either the top or bottom connector...... It needs to be connected to the bottom one.  Bill

I just got back and checked the 4 pin molex and it was pluged in to the top plug so I moved it to the bottom plug and still get the same code. Maybe I need to clear and key. Thanks. Bill

Bill...  what code are you getting ?  Has the game ever been functional ?     I recall doing a basic clear , switching the connector.. and I had bought a new netplex for the top box ( thinking that's what I needed).... I put the new netplex in and it worked ; then I put the old netplex in and it suddenly also worked........weird !!!!   Also..... do a netplex config.....   Keep us posted.  Bill

I am getting a aux dot matrix commutation failure. This game was not running. Just got it. I origionally shopped out the whole game and replaced a bad power supply out of another S2000. Replaced the board battery's and did a clear and key chip. I set the options in the menu and the game wants to boot but then get the dot failure. I am origionally thinking a bad dot display, and that looks like it won't be the easiest thing to find. I will try swapping out the netplex board. I was thinking that I was missing a communitation cable. I will keep you posted. Bill

Do an auto netplex config.   Bill

I just did. I even tried switching the plug location on the netplex board. No progress. I'm kind of thinking it's the display it self but have no way of taking it out of the system to see if I can at least get the game to play. Bill

Can you post your SB and SG chip numbers so someone can check to make sure they are right. Also, you can unplug the netplex and try a different game to see if everything else works

Sure. SB-100901, SG-Game#1-000535(61B1), SG-Game#2-000535(2671). I have not tried the netplex board in another game because the board in this game is larger than others. Bill

Sorry, I meant to try different SB and SG chips in that game with the dot matrix unplugged to see if the basic game works alright. Narrow the problem down to the top box for sure

:72- They do tend to make us want to  :30- and  :8- sometimes  :89-

This works as a problem solver  :264- for really troublesome machine problems though
