Title: ami r-93 Post by: bikerman on February 10, 2013, 01:45:44 AM Hoping someone can help me with an ami R-93. I got it working somewhat, it starts playing the record and about half way through the song it returns the needle and returns the record.
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: slotsteve on February 10, 2013, 10:59:53 AM your tone arm is not on tone arm cam right 2 pin,s should be one each side of cam
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: Neonkiss on February 10, 2013, 11:18:08 AM Also check the adjustment of the reed switch.
It should be located on a printed circuit board and has a screw to hold it secured. When the screw is loose a slot in the board allows for adjustment for end of track. Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: slotsteve on February 10, 2013, 11:21:02 AM I,m thinking box got moved and tone arm jumped out of cam , are someone had hands in there
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: bikerman on February 10, 2013, 11:40:53 AM The pins are on both sides of the cam, I tried adjusting the board, either it starts at the beginning and ends half way through or starts a little ways into the song and still stops before the end
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: slotsteve on February 10, 2013, 11:44:51 AM did it ever work right? is that flat thin metal hook like thing on cam? i have a rowe mech in basement here but i can,t post pic,s here
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: bikerman on February 10, 2013, 12:09:59 PM I just picked it up yesterday, so not sure. On the circuit board there is a part that looking like a thin glass tube and has what looking like a connector in the center. what does the sensing to tell the arm that the record is over?
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: slotsteve on February 10, 2013, 12:12:25 PM yes theres a reed swicth in tube that tells end of record
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: bikerman on February 10, 2013, 12:16:12 PM Do those go bad? It looks grey in the center where the two ends meet. Where can I buy a new one?
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: slotsteve on February 10, 2013, 12:20:35 PM if it was bad it would either reject right away or never reject check that 3/8 nut on back of tone arm that sets the tone arm down on beginning of record
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: bikerman on February 10, 2013, 12:28:16 PM If I adjust the circuit board back it does reject right away. The nut with the weight on it?
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: slotsteve on February 10, 2013, 12:33:36 PM nut with weight is for needle don,t touch
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: bikerman on February 10, 2013, 12:38:24 PM The nut that is on the side? It is tight
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: bikerman on February 10, 2013, 12:40:46 PM It seems like once it gets to the center of the Reed switch it shuts off like at the end of the song
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: slotsteve on February 10, 2013, 12:58:26 PM but where dose needle go down on start of cycle?
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: bikerman on February 10, 2013, 01:00:31 PM I can adjust the board so it starts at the beginning and ends half way through or I can have it start halfway into the song and stop at the end like it should
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: Neonkiss on February 10, 2013, 01:39:05 PM Check the position of the magnet.
The tone are should have a magnet on it that rides over that reed switch and activates the cancel or end of record. I had one that the magnet moved and was not positioned correctly. It acted exactly as yours does. Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: bikerman on February 10, 2013, 01:41:43 PM It looks like it is, does the reed switch also start the cycle to play the record? I had a repair shop email me and said it sounds like the control board is bad and they can fix for 70
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: slotsteve on February 10, 2013, 04:00:52 PM i do NOT think you have a bad control board
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: bikerman on February 10, 2013, 08:47:49 PM Is there an adjustment for the arm and the magnet?
Title: Re: ami r-93 Post by: slotsteve on February 10, 2013, 09:54:04 PM i,ll go take some pic and email them to you
