Title: battery leakage-how do you clean board
Post by: qbert on February 13, 2013, 01:11:12 PM
I have a question for you guys. What do you clean the circuit boards with when you have evidence of battery leakage?
Is there something you recommend to neutralize the effect of the caustic chemicals before they destroy the board?
As always Thanks

Baking soda...or a cola ( coke or Pepsi) works also. Sort of like cleaning your battery terminals on your vehicle.

Thanks
I thought these batteries were an alkaline base and something other than baking soda would be used since baking soda is used for acid type batteries.

Search it then..it was just discussed last week. And Bunker had posted awhile back on his method.

Edit: Here, I searched and found this thread...

Thanks very much for the link. :259-
Edski also stated a vinegar and water solution would be more correct for this type of battery.
Man are the pictures of those boards in the link ugly! Right now I just have some small discolor on the board where the battery is.
