Title: WMS 40X Board repairs
Post by: Neonkiss on February 16, 2013, 08:05:52 PM
Does anyone have ANY documentation for repairs of the WMS 40X machines?
I have some I/O boards with the following symptoms.

1) Hopper Runs all the time
2) I/O board reboots on startup, but causes power surges during coin up (coin or bill)
3) DS1 Fail led illuminated, no bongs, just dead

also have CPU boards that cause a known good I/O to show DS1 led Fail

would like to attempt repairs or if someone knows of anyone doing repair work on these boards at a reasonable price.
PM me or post pubically

I don't know if he ever got into board-level repairs, but I'd try contacting Clay ("cfh" here on the site) -- if anyone has done them, it'd likely be him.

If this is any help, on the hopper running all the time problem, I had that exact same problem that turned out to be the largest square chip in the middle of the IO board. Kirk from Las Vegas, now Hawaii helped me figure that out.

Thanks guys  :3- :244- :3- :244-

Keep the knowledge flowing. I'm open to any repair tips or issues.
I'll try swapping around some known good chips into one of the boards with the hopper issue and see what I get.
I did see the previous post you had and the replies from Kirk. I emailed him a while back, but never got a reply.

When he lived in Las Vegas I would go to his house and not only leave with my problem solved but plenty of parts and a meal at his favorite wing place or the Aliante!

Still looking for someone that does I/O board repairs
The stack of bad boards is really starting to grow.

Will also consider purchasing boards if someone has them for sale.
