Title: Re: Need an S+ Manual and Help with an Error Post by: Jim on March 09, 2009, 06:18:35 PM By a 31 error code do you mean 3100 code?? If that's the code, then its telling you that your hopper paid out a extra coin.. Can you play the machine at all? will it accept coins ? The reel strip alignment is easy to fix, but I don't think you can go into any diagnostic tests until you clear the error. To clear the error ,, close the door and make sure the slide latch goes all the way down. Machine display's will go blank, for a few seconds, then the reels should spin and stop then the insert coin lamp should come on. At this point you should be able to insert coins and play: regardless where the reels line up .

and I am aware about the message that hopper paid out extra coins ,,,,,,,,, the machine does not accept coins the door has opto but I think it does not work at receiver is no voltage ,should be high at door open and low at door closed can this opto be overrided? I go in some test with the key switch from the right side of cabinet Ron thanks for mail ! Title: Re: Need an S+ Manual and Help with an Error Post by: Jim on March 09, 2009, 07:12:02 PM Ron that's a new one on me , I ' ve never came across a 31 code. Under normal situation with the door closed and ready to play: if you turn the jackpot reset switch you enter into the bookeeping mode , depending on what sp chip you have there are 13 different readings in this mode, you can watch the coins played window as you turn the key it should change as you turn the key each time. after the 12 or 13 number then you should go back to the game play mode, its here where you should see the true error code if one exists.
No its not easy to bypass the optics, the system puts out a pulsing signal for security reasons. That way someone couldn't overcome the security. That signal and the optics can be tested in the inputs test ,,, test # 13. Title: Re: Need an S+ Manual and Help with an Error Post by: stayouttadabunker on March 09, 2009, 11:34:24 PM I've had weird "half" codes like that a few times...usually it's intermittent power going to the motherboard from the power supply...Your male pins on the motherboard...esp. the 2nd one is now starting to get "oxidized" a little- causing weird codes.
With the power off, pull up on the white molex and turn it around...you'll see the 2nd acceptor spot on the molex looks like a two pack a day smoker's finger....yellowish and burnt looking... Yes, it is normal for the reels to sometimes stop between symbols (signs) (on a blank part of the reel). Your machine appears to be acting normally. For example, if you spin BAR, BAR, (Blank), you win nothing. This is correct. On the particular game theme (Double Blackjack) that you have, getting three blanks ( (Blank), (Blank), (Blank) ) pays your original bet back. If you bet 1 credit, you win 1. If you bet 2 credits, you win 2, etc. So, the win of 1 credit you hit at 2:55 in the video is correct. This picture of the belly glass for your game should help explain: (http://newlifegames.net/igtbible/IGT%203CM/Game%20Library%20-%20S-Plus%20-%20Double%20Black%20Jack%20(3%20Coin%20Multiplier)_files/88856500.gif) I know the picture is very small, but if you look at the very bottom you will see the payout for "Blank, Blank, Blank". Also something to watch for -- if you get three symbols of the same color (like Purple 7, Triple Bar, Triple Bar), you will win 2 coins for every 1 bet. Title: Re: Need an S+ Manual and Help with an Error Post by: easternpinman on April 04, 2009, 10:01:31 PM I have loaded about 400 tokens in the hopper of the IGT s+
If I want to cash out let s say 100 coins machine deliver about 25 coins and then displays error code 32 , have to open close the door to reset error and then after about 25 coins error 32 ,,,and so on ,,,, If I want to cash out only 20 coins everything is fine and machine delivers 20 coins, no error Is the hooper to slow as the time alocated for let s say 100 coins runs out before the 100 coins are cashed out ? and turns to the 32 error ? 32 is coin jam probably I have to adjust , clean , lubricate ,,,, in other words revise the hopper ? the good news is that I found the belly glass at tophat79 ,,,,thank you man ! Title: Re: Need an S+ Manual and Help with an Error Post by: jay on April 04, 2009, 11:25:41 PM What kind of coin ?
It is possible that the hopper is not the right one for the size of coin you are using..... The error you are getting is probably related to the optic missing the coin as it does not sound like you are clearing any physical jams. You can adjust the optic slightly and you can clean it. Which might be enough.... Title: Re: Need an S+ Manual and Help with an Error Post by: Jim on April 05, 2009, 01:44:24 AM .There are three ways to test the hopper, two out of the machine and one in the machine. This should help you figure out your problem Jim1) disassemble the hopper down to the point where you have removed the one or two big springs that attach from the hopper bowl to the handle. remove the coin level probe, normally in the top hole, front hopper bowl, then remove the 4 screws holding the bowl to the main frame, note two black and two silver spring, remove bowl, sometimes if they put a washer under the screws holding the knife you may have too twist and turn to remove it or take out the two screws holding the knife, at this point you can test the hopper manually.(if you removed the knife put it back on,chisel point should lay on the shelf wheel and pushed all the way back ) on the back side of hopper, where the motor is ,you will see a arm attached to the motor that has a red plastic piece with a spring attached to it. this is the motor brake, you can push this with you finger and watch it as it will spring back and forth, this is normal operation, if it is sticky or sluggish it will cause 3100 errors. this stops the motor from drifting after it has been told to turn off. But if you hold this down with one hand you can usually turn the pin wheel by placing your fingers on the star agitator and rotating it ccw. after you have mastered this then you can place quartes on the slots of the pinwheel usually only 4 or 5 from the end of knife to the 4 o'clock position. Rotate the wheel by hand and watch as they come onto the knife and roll thru the coin optics down the knife and out on to the tabletop or floor. You can do this several times and really see what is going on and make corrections accordingly. 2) get hopper down to the same point. and test it with 115vac. do this with extreme caution. I made a test cord with two push on connectors, the same type they use on the hopper. remove the two connectors from the hopper and attach your test cord ends. I plug my test cord into a power strip with an on/off switch so I can control running the hopper. This is a great test after you correct your problem and reassemble the hopper. You can put coins in the hopper and run them thru and ensure that everything is good. 3) test in the machine-----with no fault codes and machine ready to play--- open door locate white test button,if machine has bill acceptor,to the left of power switch---some models had switch mounted to back of that housing, of if no bill acc. left side of machine middle of card cage. Press until you get a#3 in the coins played window press spin button hopper should come on , count ten coins and stop. you should be able to do this as many times as you wish and you feel that the hopper is running right. Hope this helps you, good luck and if you need anything contact the vendors on top of page. just It seems to be kind of slow 1 coin out every two seconds there are about 300 tokens inside Meanwhile I have received the belly glass from tophat79 THANK YOU " tophat79 " was perfect profesional packed Now finnaly the machine is ready ,,,,,,,,,,,,history : machine has been dropped from the truck at its first arival here :8- Thank to ALL of You for Your help on this IGT s+ Title: Re: Need an S+ Manual and Help with an Error Post by: rickhunter on April 17, 2009, 05:58:01 PM What kind of hopper do you have a hollywheel or a pinwheel hopper. Hollywheels have holes in the hopper where the coins go into to be dispensed. Pinwheels have two pins where the coins fall into place in conjuntion with another wheel that is sized so that the coin fits snuggly around the two pins and the shelf wheel (which is sized according to denomination). There are times when some pinwheel hoppers were converted improperly (that is cheaply) by only changing the shelf wheel and not the pinwheel. So if your hopper was originally a dollar wheel it has the spacing for dollar tokens. What some dealers do, is they just replace the shelf wheel (the one that determines coin height) and leave the dollar pin wheel behind, this causes the slow coin behavior that you describe as it is dispensing the coins at the speed of dollar tokens. The correct way is to replace both the shelf wheel (for the right height) and pin wheel (for the right distance between coins) so that the hopper can dispense at full speed. This is also a cause of jams if the knife was also not replaced. Look at your hopper and see what kind you have. If you have the pinwheel type, look at the spacing between the coins going into the wheel to be dispensed, they should be right next to each other, if there's a gap, then you have the wrong sized pin wheel.
Hollywheel hoppers are somewhat slower, but 2 seconds between coins sounds awefull slow, even for a hollywheel hopper. Here's a picture of a quarter on a dollar pinwheel. Notice that this is actually a dollar hopper, so the shelfwheel (silver colored circle on top of the quarters) is not the correct size for quarters. If it was the correct shelf wheel, the silver edges of the inner wheel would touch the tops of the quarters. If your quarters are spaced like this, you have the wrong pin wheel. You can just replace that for the correct one, and your quarters will come out faster. Title: Re: Need an S+ Manual and Help with an Error Post by: Jim on April 17, 2009, 06:12:00 PM One other area that could cause your slow counting: its the coin wiper arm, if it is set to close to the coin then it actually will knock them off the wheel before they get to the optics. They should be set so that the end of the arm is approx. 1/16" inch above the coin.
Manually position a coin underneath the arm and you will see what I am describing, the coin should not hit this arm, its purpose is to knock a second coin off if in case it got piggy backed. Jim |
