Title: IGT s+ lamp replacement question
Post by: Garetmax on March 10, 2009, 04:56:18 PM
Hi,

I wanted to get some replacement lamps for my IGT S+ and my Aristocrat MK2.5 for the panel switches.

I'm not sure which bulbs I should get. :103-

My S+ has #259 for all 5 button switches which has 6.3 volts (change, cashout, bet one, spin, and max).  Are these supposed to be different for the 2 different size buttons?  What are the #86 bulbs for?

The Aristocrat has #657's in there for all the player buttons which has 24 volts except for the two burned out that were #555- (6.3 volt - maybe why they burned out).

What is the difference in a #259 and #555 lamps?
What about the difference in base codes, T-1 3/4" and T-3 1/4"?  I can't visably see a difference.

Thanks,
Scott

I did a little light bulb test after an interesting PM from one of members...
I kept the power voltage constant but the amperage changed slightly between the two bulbs...
Check this out>>>

This is the #555 bulb test>>>I cant see any difference in brightness really...The camera didn't expose the shots precisely right I believe...however through me eyes, I couldn't really see a whole lot of difference between the two bulb types.>>

259 Bulb is the S+ replacement for Imbedded games using the Large buttons (1" and 2" Square) the are both 6.3 volt .25 amp however the 259 has .34 CP and the 555 has .9 CP (Candle Power) although most replacement buttons come with 555's and is a more common bulb, they are both T 3 1/4 Base as well as the 24 volt Aristocrat Bulb, the T 1 3/4 # 86 bulb is a much smaller bulb and the one found in non imbedded S+ and the Denom backlight as well as Insert Coin and Coin Accepted inserts in the reel glass they are 6.3 as well, btw we have those bulbs way cheaper than that place above, a dollar a bulb is way more than retail, we have them for less than half

Good post Blue!
thanks for that information :131-
I only applied 5 volts to them because I didn't want to blow them for nothing! :96-
I've noticed that the bulbs with more cp seem to really warm up the bezels on the buttons...
a nice feature for cold winter nights....

Bunker   Silly ? has anyone tryed drilling a hole in the button ( black housing) just below the large nut, to let the heat out. Be something like opening a oven door wouldn't it

okay, okay....I'm just kidding....the lower cp bulbs that Blueridge mentioned earlier, though not as bright and pretty as the brighter bulbs, will last longer and run more efficiently (Though slightly yellowish looking), you'd need new white insert/legends to make the most of the bulb's brightness....
but if you're talking brightness AND efficiency* ( I cant spell) the real and best way to go is LED lights that have a wider light dispersing angle. LEDs beam of light is too concentrated (narrow).
These LED bulbs are cheapest when purchased from an chinese Fleabay-type website...the vendors in North America are charging too much at the moment for LEDs. Ever see how much they are at an auto store? Rip-off prices really...
I wish our vendors would buy a few boxes of these for us to buy....if not, I will!!!
Personally, I love the colored LEDs and the 7 color-changing LEDs.
